Itβs true what they say: All good things must come to an end.
It is with profound disappointment that I must announce the cancellation of this yearβs Dusty Rail Rally. Due to some unforeseen circumstances and some unique challenges faced this year, the race cannot be held. Sure, changes could be made to βmake it workβ, but the Dusty Rail Rally is a race for runners by runners. It offers a one-of-a-kind experience. As Race Director, I feel I owe it to each of you to uphold that ideal, and to that end, I will not cheapen the experience.
Over the past 4 years, this race has done a lot of good for a lot of different folks. For me, personally, it has been a truly humbling experience. Iβve met some truly spectacular people. Iβve experienced first-hand how much work and commitment (and love and passion) goes into even a small race, and it has deepened my respect and appreciation for RDs. For some, the Dusty Rail Rally was your very first race; for some, itβs your P.R.; for others, itβs a chance to toe the line with some really fast people to try to win a one-of-a-kind award. Whatever DRR means to you, that meaning means the world to me.
Words cannot express my appreciation for the support of all of our participants, sponsors, volunteers, award craftsmen, and supporters.
Iβve been in contact with Active.com and will be arranging refunds of your registration fees.
As I type these final words, I reflect back to five years ago - sitting in a Lodge meeting, begging for a chance to put this event together from scratch. I had to convince my Brothers that people would actually come all the way to Trilby and would actually pay money to run. They were skeptical, but YOU helped me prove that it was possible! This race has become a part of me, my history, and my identity. Saying goodbye to DRR is like saying goodbye to a friend. Thank you all for proving that people will come to Trilby - to run, to support our community, to encourage one another, to be active, and to .
