Well rain ☔️ seems to be our “friend” in 2026 but the good news is, together, we continue to make a difference. Unfortunately the weather gods didn’t play nice yesterday, again, and the big show was unable to proceed last night in Barberton due to safety concerns. 😢 However because of the amazing outpouring of support, like always, from the Barberton area community and the businesses listed here along with the unbelievable efforts of Martin we were still able to raise just shy of 10,000.00 last night at the Annual Rockin Btown For Cancer. This brings our annual campaign so much closer to our 30,000.00 goal and our largest campaign since our inception in 2015 🙏 On behalf of our charity partners the Comunale Cancer Foundation and Stewart's Caring Place: Cancer Wellness Center and our 2026 Adopted Fighter Emma Bryant, I can’t tell you how much we appreciate your support and love Barberton from the entire Four Leaf Clover Foundation Family 🍀🫶❤️

After a short reset and break post race it’s very tough to come back with this update. From my personal page…

Hey guys it just pains me to heartache to get the recent updates about our dear Emma. I’ve been talking with Kristin Robinson Bryant this evening. We spoke a few times as the race was getting close. That’s when Emma first started to have issues. At that time she wasn’t ready to share publicly. As you may have seen she shared an update earlier today about Emma. It’s so hard, sometimes, to process the path of our Lord. But it’s at these times we need to lean into him the most. Emma’s condition has worsened in these few short weeks. She starts a new chemotherapy regime tomorrow. I will be getting together with, hopefully both, but certainly Kristin in the next day or so. Comfort, hugs, love and support from the foundation will be offered up. They are so thankful for the amazing support from the community but need you know more then ever. Please…please when you say your prayers tonight…give a whole bunch of love and powerful prayer through our God for this courageous, beautiful young lady. Our Dear Emma Strong 🙏 ❤️ 🫶

From the Eddies Famous Cheesesteaks page…

The Big Rockin 4 Cancer concert rescheduled from August is coming up this Saturday in the Magic City 🎩 Always an amazing event that makes a huge impact for the local cancer community and the Four Leaf Clover Foundation 🍀 and our charity partners the Comunale Cancer Foundation and Stewart's Caring Place: Cancer Wellness Center along with our 2026 Adopted Fighter 18 year old Emma Bryant. Emma could use a huge prayer chain as we speak Eddies Nation. Please keep her in your prayers as she’s going through an extremely difficult time presently 🙏 Your presence Saturday is more than just a good time…it’s a great way to show your support. I’ll share the Food Trucks that will team up at the Mini Eddies Food Truck Mashup to kick the festivities off later today. The city is keeping me to a maximum of four trucks for some reason 🤔 Make Plans To Support Eddies Nation….

Some Important Housekeeping…Hey guys we had around 60 participants or so that couldn’t make it to the race. However…you registered…you supported and you deserve to be rewarded 🙌 I would love for you to get the “goods” so to speak. We have plenty of shirts in all sizes and a box of medals plus a little gift for you. I am gonna make them available for pickup at Eddies Famous Cheesesteaks on Main Street. I only ask for a quick heads up when you plan on coming so my staff is on notice and can get your size shirt ready. Just a quick message on messenger or you can email me at [email protected]. Now…I’m thinking a 4 mile virtual run/walk dedicated to the Akron area cancer community along with Emma and Alex would be apropos but no proof necessary 😉 Thanks for your support Akron 🍀

👉 SAVE THE DATE…A HUGE FINALE IS SET 🙌

We have reached a tentative date with the City of Akron, OH and St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. Kind Of A Wrap Up…The 9th Running and Epic Return of the Four Leaf Clover Run/Walk 🍀 Someone asked me the other day if I’d have a “total” on how the race did by the end of the week 😵‍💫 The short answer…No. The pics of my house haven’t changed since Saturday (race day) as I hurriedly unloaded the U-Haul, grabbed my car and sped off to Geneva for Bike Week and Eddies which was at the tipping point of the weekend 😜 The dining room “office” (I have three “offices” in my house) hasn’t changed a bit other then my ocd traits have straightened up the piles. I haven’t touched the post race administrative duties. I have paid a couple bills. Post race the foundation becomes, essentially, an army of one…Me. Truth be told my first priority, post race, is to get back to my businesses. While they never take a back seat things are prioritized the weeks leading up to the race. However….

I think I can say that I’m pretty confident this years campaign including the Rockin 4 Cancer concert rescheduled for October 10th in Barberton featuring Paradise - The Meat Loaf Tribute will be the largest fundraising effort since our inception in 2015 🫶 To give you an idea…I’m still working on collecting nearly 10k in sponsorship pledges from this year, haven’t balanced the limited b**r sales with the returns or received the refund, still waiting on bills from the City of Akron, porta pots, haven’t balanced race day sales (b**r, bbq, vintage shirts, on site donations, the raffle, etc)…It’s a job guys. I’m gonna go through a bunch of stuff finally this afternoon. I will also add that the rain, unfortunately, probably cost us about 2-3k in monies we typically raise race day. The only “down” item. On top of all that…expenses are way up…imagine that. The cost of the city services alone has gone up 50% since the early days. Medals and shirts are up. The rentals are up over 50% also but much of that can be attributed to our growth as a race. Suffice to say…I’m working on it. It’s gonna be an amazing endgame. 😎

Since our inception in 2015 through 2025 the Four Leaf Clover Foundation has raised in excess of 145,000.00 for our charity partners and our Adopted Fighter Program. We have written checks for over 100,000.00 for our partners including Project Ed Bear, the Comunale Cancer Foundation and Stewart's Caring Place: Cancer Wellness Center. Additionally 8 local families have received over 45,000.00 through our Adopted Fighter Program. It was my hope to surpass 30,000.00 with this year’s campaign. While that number won’t be realized due a bit to the rain and, to be honest, it looked like we were headed for 525 maybe even 550 participants…we ended up with just under 500 participants for this years race. However our corporate sponsorship was the largest, by far, since our inception. I feel pretty good about what we’ve achieved and accomplished for the local cancer community. I feel very confident we will surpass 170,000.00 raised since 2016 with this year’s efforts in the 26k range. Not too shabby for a man with a dream and a vision along with a very small team of three runners, primarily, that wanted to make a difference in the name of Michelle, Michael and Mary Anne 💔

So there you go guys…that’s a bit of a wrap up. I will report back later in time with a more definitive endgame although I’m pretty close already. I will also probably share some personal thoughts in the coming days and continue to share some fave moments in time and pics. Thank you all to those that have participated, volunteered, donated, sponsored and believed in my mission to make the ripples grow wider for the local Akron cancer community. There’s no better words than…I Love You ❤️

Be A Difference Maker,

Ed

So it’s been said…“Well I’ve had time to reflect so here’s some thoughts”. Truth be told I’ve had no time to reflect, so to speak, but I’ve certainly had a mind that’s processed such an amazing 9th Running and Epic Return of the Four Leaf Clover Run/Walk. I’m gonna share a few of my personal thoughts eventually, I hope, but first there’s two amazing humans I need to, once again, recognize as the key spokes in the wheel 🛞 We actually got zero pics together this year (damn rain)…However I think this is the best pic in our nearly decade as an absolute All Star Team. 🍀

Most superlatives have already been used for both of these two dear friends through the years. Jim Chaney…I really have no words for how much you’ve meant to my mission and my extreme desire to produce a first class, check all the boxes, all the details and make a race day experience unparalleled and one that’s to be remembered. JIm’s played every role possible in making this event happen annually, just about, except grilling a hot dog. 🤪 Website, registration platform, fundraising platform, all race day timing and logistics, photography services, nonstop advice and never ending phone calls, emails and text messages. Too much too list. Jim has donated so much of his time and I’ll never find the proper words to express my gratitude. Jim is beyond the words difference maker…he’s been my absolute key to the success of the Four Leaf Clover Run 💚 Thanks so much Jim 🙌👊👏

The Papa Joey Phillips is the big smile that defines our race day and event experience. Everybody’s Lovable “Papa”. 😎 Joey has been so crucial to everything going smoothly on our brickroads of AkRun historic course and served as our Course Director on top of many other hats he’s worn since day one. Joey was the first person I called after Michelle passed and I had an idea about a race. Joey helped me design the course in 2015. He wanted Cadillac Hill as part of the course. 🤪 Well we’re finally gonna do it next year with the 10th Running and Huge Finale. 😉 He’s worked the course experience since the early days and tries to elevate it annually with Jim’s guidance. The Alayna Bretsik Family Fun Run became a symbol of our mission and Joey, once again, in the pouring rain made it happen this year with the most incredible outcome 🥲 Congrats again Remi. Joey is also a dynamo on the dance floor annually 🕺🏾 I love you Joey…Thanks 🙌👊👏

The Four Leaf Clover Run/Walk was launched, developed, grown and cultivated into a premier Akron community event that continues to make a huge impact on the local cancer community because of these two amazing men. On behalf of Michelle, Mary Anne, Michael and Akron I thank you ❤️

Relive The Moments…Over the years I’ve done my best to preserve the race with memorable and meaningful photography. I’ve had a host of amazing photographers step up and donate their time to create lasting memories of all the magical runnings of the race. We’ve also had our race timing companies add different elements to the photography. You were all emailed results and finish line photos race day. This year one of my amazing photographers from the past, Anthony Boarman, was unavailable and got me in touch with Scott Dudek Photography. Many of you know Scott from all his work with local high schools. Well Scott was cool enough to donate his time to grab some epic moments at the opening ceremonies, on the course and at the beginning of the finishers festival. While Scott certainly couldn’t capture all of the nearly 500 runners, he certainly caught all the magic. A huge shoutout to Scott…these snaps include all the feels of our mission 🙌 I hope you enjoy these amazing moments in time. ❤️

Note: I’ve got an amazing plan for the Finale 😉
