We have to give a massive shoutout to the Appalachian Challenge Academy cadets who showed up and showed out for PossumFest!

These young men jumped in wherever we needed them — parking cars, helping at the gates, managing crowds, answering questions, moving people where they needed to go, and tackling just about anything we threw their way.

They never missed a beat.

Your hard work, discipline, teamwork and willingness to serve made a HUGE difference in making PossumFest happen. We are incredibly grateful for every one of you!

Thank you, Challenge Academy cadets, for being part of our PossumFest family and for helping us take care of thousands of guests from near and far.

You came ready to work — and boy, did you work!

Huge THANK YOU to Abraham Music Center for helping keep the Main Stage rocking and making sure our performers could do what they do best.

We couldn’t do this crazy little festival without the businesses and people who jump in, solve problems and say, “We’ve got you.”

⛈️ THEN THE STORM ROLLED IN…

For a few minutes, PossumFest looked a whole lot different. This incredible photo captures the shelf cloud as that freak thunderstorm moved across the mountains and rolled right through the festival Saturday morning about 10 a.m.

The wind picked up, the rain came down, tents went flying, and everyone sprang into action.

And that’s the part we want to remember.

People jumped in to help each other. Vendors helped vendors. Volunteers helped wherever they were needed. Folks secured tents, moved belongings, checked on one another and got to work putting things back together.

To our vendors who lost items or suffered damage in the storm — we are so sorry. Our hearts are with you. You worked hard to be here, and we know how difficult it is to see your things damaged or lost. ❤️

And then, not long after the storm passed, thousands of guests started arriving — and they just kept coming all day!

Thanks to every volunteer, vendor, sponsor, community member and PossumFest friend who helped welcome them, keep things moving, dry things out and make sure everyone had a wonderful time.

We got knocked down. We got soaked. We picked ourselves up.

And together, we kept the party going. 🦡❤️

That’s what PossumFest is all about — people showing up for each other. That’s the Appalachian spirit.

Thank you for helping us make it through one wild storm and one unforgettable festival. ⛈️🦡❤️

From right here in our own backyard to folks who traveled from near and far, you helped bring PossumFest to life!

Thank you for setting up in the heat, riding out a freak thunderstorm, drying off, and jumping right back in. Thank you for sharing your food, art, crafts, creations, businesses, and talents with thousands of PossumFest visitors.

Whether you traveled a few miles or crossed multiple states to get here, we’re truly grateful you packed up your stuff, hit the road, and made your way to Cumberland, Kentucky. You’re a huge part of what makes this little festival so special.
