G.U.T.S. Yeah, that about sums it up!
As we head into year 5 of this event we look back on an incredible string of achievements and milestones for this grassroots festival. We are musicians and music lovers who set out to inspire because we were inspired! We started with the plan to do a one-day event that showcased guitar music of all types. So many people were interested in what we were building, that in our first year we grew to a 3-day show. We started out with a $5,000 budget and in the end, put on a production that totaled over $160,000 and featured 22 artists. Guitar legends like Gary Hoey and the Queen of Metal Lita Ford were featured in our very first year. Not bad for an event that began with the idea of doing a one day show featuring mostly local talent. Not bad for a show put on by a couple guys with nothing but an idea and a 9-5 level income. We are not backed by Some big financial backer, no we achieved this by ourselves! The event has now featured artists representing 18 Grammy awards and more than 100 million in record sales. Last summer's event was our largest to date and drew people from 11 different states. Lebanon Oregon became the destination for an event where you could enjoy a weekend of Camping, Music and Craft beer. We have inspired people to try to achieve something bigger than themselves. We have also inspired people to learn to play guitar and take further interest in music. We have watched as artists like Michael Hermes (who at age 14 appeared on our stage playing Steve Vai covers) have already by age 18 fulfilled the dream of playing a live show with Steve Vai himself! Michael is now endorsed by several guitar and guitar gear companies! We have seen local talent grow from a spot at our event to playing major festivals like Rockin the Rivers in Montana! Each year we have exposed our audience to new bands. Bands that in many cases have become fan favorites. The sentiment always shifts after the show is over from “I never heard of them” to “Are they coming back? That was awesome!”. We have become an inspiration machine and we are just getting warmed up. Our event will be increasing its Craft Beer and Food Offerings this year to the level of quality that will match the musical entertainment. We will be featuring as many as 18 artists over two days and will introduce “F.A.M.E. CAMP” a 4-day guitar “boot camp” for kids. Our goal is to provide up to 100 kids with new guitars and continuing education after the camp. Please support our efforts to put a quality guitar festival on the map on a national level and inspire the next generation of players and fans! Each year we will bring the best entertainment our budget will allow and present them to you in an environment that is truly inspirational. By supporting us now we can someday bring you things you never thought possible. Unless you attend our event you will not understand what it means to have G.U.T.S. in your life!
