We raised $65k that year. We had a huge crowd. We had so much support.
Fast forward 12 years & Cystic Fibrosis is a disease with a treatment and not a death sentence. All thanks to the Parents, Families and Friends of children diagnosed with Cystoc Fibrosis. They fought for a cure, developed their own foundation and discovered their own medications - just from grass roots fundraising.
When Race for Lace 5k was born, the life expectancy for CF kids was only early 20’s…in that short 15 years, these children are now healthy & living normal lives with a normal life expectancy.
2026 is our year to give thanks! A huge shout out and bring back for all those who helped us all those years!
Pictured: Families gather at the starting line during Saturday's Great Strides Race for Lace in Downtown Crestview. (Editor's note: When I first read the report that appears in tomorrow's edition, I asked reporter Matthew Brown, "So they raised $65,000, not $6,500?" I asked twice, and he said yes twice. That is a BIG deal for a local event just in its fourth year! Hats off to the event organizers and all who participated.)
