We salute the life and work of George Wein who in no small part created the idea of the modern music festival. We hope that one day our little blues festival will touch a small fraction of the people that his life's work did. Rest peacefully.

“He was putting artists of every color, race, gender, sexuality on a stage together,” said one member of the board of the Newport Festival Foundation. “He was helping liberate the American society.”

The Rhode Island Blues Festival

The RI Blues Fest is a two-day music festival celebrating national and international performers of the blues. We wanted to bring some of the best local, national and international blues performers to Southern New England. And we’ve done it.

Over two days you will see, hear and feel some of the best blues performers in the world. From local acts like Neil and the Vipers and Lois Greco to international superstars Marcia Ball and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, you won’t find blues music like this anywhere around. But the biggest excitement is to expose all the music lovers to the future of the blues, including artists such as Heather Gillis, Jack Broadbent and Selwyn Birchwood.

It may only be our first Blues Fest, but we are certain that this line up is going to blow you away. For two days you will enjoys great food, great drink and awesome music.
