Hello Spicy Beagles!

Our theme for 2026 is Festival of Spirits, celebrating the fascinating world of spirits, demons, and yokai as we reconnect with our roots. Like last year, we’re inviting you to kick off the festivities by creating a 3–7 minute video inspired by this year’s theme. Feel free to choose any style or content you like. To help inspire you, we’ve included reference videos of the Night Parade of 100 Demons and the Kaikai Yokai Festival in the form.

The deadline for submissions is August 31, 2026, at 11:59 PM CDT. All contest rules are outlined in the form linked below:

Hey there Spicy Beagles! Our social media is ramping up a year long activity that everyone is allowed to participate in: Anime NebrasKon Game Nights!!

Throughout the year we will be hosting Game Nights on our Discord server and streaming them on our Twitch channel! We will have things ranging from TTRPG one shots in various formats to Jackbox Nights to other party games! Everyone is welcome to join as long as you meet Discord's terms and conditions for having an account there. Cameras are optional for participation in any games but voice chat will be required.

Our first game night is July 1st and will be a Jackbox Night starting with Quiplash! Sign ups will start around 7 PM and we plan on playing for a few hours. Make sure to join our Discord and grab the "Game Night Participant" role to join in on the fun! Don't feel like playing but want to watch as well? Make sure to follow our Twitch channel below! We still recommend joining Discord because that is mainly where the events and announcements will be made going forward. Or make sure your Twitch notifications are on!

Mark your calendars for our Annual BBQ!

Join us at Lake Zorinsky Shelter 1 on August 15th! Feel free to arrive starting at 11 a.m., with lunch served around noon. Just bring yourself and a few friends—no need to worry about bringing anything else, except for sunscreen! Cosplay is encouraged, but keep the weather in mind!

Attention all cosplayers! We have an update on how the juried system will work for our Main Stage Competition.

Submissions will be open starting on August 1, 2026 at 8 AM. You have until August 31, 2026 at 8 PM to get your submission in. When you are submitting your application to be a part of the Main Stage Cosplay Contest, you will be asked to include a folder with at least one reference photo and at least 5 work in progress photos of the cosplay you plan on competing with. We ask that contestants be at least 50% complete with their costumes at the time of application submission.

All applications will be reviewed by the Cosplay Directors along with other experienced impartial viewers to ensure the process is fair. Emails will be sent out by September 18, 2026 to notify contestants if they have been accepted or not. Please refer to the link below for more info.

Attention Spicy Beagles! We have exciting news about this year's cosplay contest. We're making a big change to the way you enter!
This year, the contest will no longer be a first-come, first-served race. Instead, we're introducing a jury system.

Here's what that means for you: rather than rushing to submit your entry the moment registration opens, you'll now have the opportunity to submit an application to participate. A panel of master class cosplayers will carefully review all submissions and use their expertise to select the most outstanding entries.

This new process ensures a fairer, more thoughtful selection, and recognizes true cosplay mastery. Get ready to showcase your skills—our expert jury will choose the best of the best to compete!

Calling all artists! Don't forget — tomorrow is the LAST day to enter our art contest! The contest officially ends at 11:59 PM tomorrow, so make sure to submit your artwork before the deadline.

Remember, there are multiple winners, including a Grand Prize winner who will get their choice of either an artist alley booth or 2 VIP tickets to the convention. The Grand Prize winner's artwork will also be showcased in our program booklet!
