2022 Halibut Surf Derby General Information
We would like to invite you to join Halibut Surf Derby (HSD) which will start from Feb 1st through Dec 31st. Derby will only be available to valid members. There is a $40/year annual fee for the membership and Biggest Perch Surf Derby, this category will be optional for +$10/Year. If you are member of 2021 HSD membership, you can renew $20 Halibut only
or $30 with Perch option,
Registry will take place on Jan 10th or any time after. You will be able to register and pick up your package that day or any time after. If you are 2022 New Members! You'll receive your 2022 membership ID number, official HSD measuring device. The derby will only be for California Halibut caught and measured with the Official HSD measuring device. Picture must have the lure or plastic that is used to catch the fish. Any hard or soft plastic is allowed. No live bait or prepared bait will be allowed. Each month from February 1st until December 31st the largest halibut and perch caught will win a special prize. There will also be an HSD champion for biggest caught for the year, also we have a most post for the month. Monthly Biggest Halibut Surf Derby (Halibut of the Month)

Yearly Biggest Halibut Surf Derby (Halibut of the Year)
• Must be registered for 2022 HSD membership
•BHOY (Biggest Halibut of the year): 2022 Halibut Surf Derby Champion original HSD Hoody etc
•The person who caught the biggest size with 2022 HSD measuring device
•Only above Legal Halibut pics
•Must notify the post on Halibut Surf Derby page www.facebook.com/Halibutsurfderby
Most posts for the month (Halibut Only)
• Must be registered for 2022 HSD membership
•MPHOM (Most Post Halibut of Month): One Free LC lures (Surf Pointer115MR)
•This category is about quantity not quality!

•Only signed with Perch option Members

•The person who caught the biggest size Perch with 2022 HSD measuring device

NEW Yearly Biggest Barred Surf Perch Surf Derby (Perch of the Year)
• Must be registered for 2022 HSD membership only signed with Perch option Members

Rules and regulations
For Big Fish
Please make sure to enter the following two pictures per submission (especially for Big Fish)
• A: Please measure the Halibut with the measuring tape that under the Halibut. (The Halibut will not be covered by the measuring tape).
• B: Measure with the tape under the Halibut. (Place the tape measure under the flounder and measure.)
• Photo must be taken directly above fish and measuring device. No angle photos.
• Mouth of fish must be closed and at “0” mark of measuring tape. ½” penalty!
• Lure used to catch fish must be pictured. Penalty of 1” will be taken away if lure is not pictured
• Please make sure to use the "HSD Official "Blue Measure".
• Be sure to post it to HSD's page.
• Dead fish will be removed from the selection process.
• Size will be determined by the HSD Admin Team based on the photo. For Many Halibuts and Big Perch
• Always take one fish per photo.
• B: Please measure with the measuring tape under the fish. (Place the HSD measure under the fish and measure)

• Lure used to catch fish must be pictured. Penalty of 1” will be taken away if lure is not pictured. (Perch option)
• Please make sure to use the "HSD Official "Blue Measure".

• Dead fish will be removed from the selection process.
• Size will be determined by HSD Admin Team. Measurements will count to the nearest ½ inch. A fish that measures 11-3/8 will count as 11-1/2 inches (11.5 points). A fish that measures 11-5/8 will count as 12 inches (12 points)
