🤠 Happy Father’s Day from South Texas Race Ranch! 🤠

Some of the best lessons in life aren’t learned in a classroom.

They’re learned in the shop.
In the garage.
At the race track.
Sitting in the stands.
Or riding down a dirt road with Dad.

Today we celebrate the men who taught us how to work hard, stay humble, lend a hand, and never quit when things get tough.

The dads who fueled our passion, hauled our race cars, fixed what was broken, cheered the loudest, and believed in us long before anyone else did.

At South Texas Race Ranch, we know racing is more than a sport—it’s a family tradition passed from one generation to the next.

To every dad covered in dirt, grease, sweat, and pride, thank you for the memories, the sacrifices, and the values you’ve instilled.

From our racing family to yours, we wish you a Happy Father’s Day filled with love, laughter, and time spent with those who matter most.

🏁 Here’s to the dads who started the engines and the dreams.

Notice is hereby given that a track workday will be held on Saturday, commencing at 8am. Volunteers are welcome to participate in the beautification efforts, which will target the grassy areas in front of the grandstands, beneath the grandstands, the playground near the restrooms, and the pit area between the guardrail and perimeter fence. People are needed with w**d eaters, mowers and the desire to contribute assistance. Work will commence at 8am and is expected to conclude around 11am.

2027 Rule Changes Thus Far…

As we continue planning for the 2027 season, here are a few updates and clarifications racers can begin preparing for now.

🏁 Factory Stocks
Factory Stocks will be allowed to run headers beginning in 2027. Additional details will be released once USRA publishes their finalized rules, but teams should plan accordingly when considering future exhaust upgrades.

🏁 Fireballs
We’re going to give Fireball teams a little more flexibility with body appearance, but we’re also putting an end to the hood scoop debates.

Air cleaners may extend through the hood and do not require a cover. However, a deflector must be installed in front of the air cleaner and wrap partially around the sides for safety and protection.

We are also clarifying the ball joint rule:

• Ball joints must remain stock replacement style.
• Ball joints may not exceed 1/2-inch taller than a stock ball joint.
• Rebuildable ball joints are not permitted.
• Low-friction ball joints are not permitted.

🏁 Sport Compacts
We are continuing to evaluate the possibility of adding Sport Compacts to our schedule.

Should I-37 Speedway cease operations, we want to ensure those racers have a place to compete. If a new promoter takes over and continues the class, we would still like to bring Sport Compacts in periodically as a guest or filler class throughout the season.

As additional rule updates are finalized, they will be announced. Our goal is to provide racers plenty of notice so everyone has adequate time to prepare for the 2027 season.

Latest Track Update…

Over the past several weeks, after receiving a massive amount of rain, we were also hit by a small tornado and a lightning strike that caused significant damage. This event exceeded the amount of drainage the track could handle.

The first week was spent treating the standing water with mosquito pellets, as nothing else could be addressed until the water levels lowered. Once we started seeing progress, we began pumping water off the track and out of the pits. Water on the track was between 4 and 5 feet deep, and it took a long time to make a dent in it. Jerry stayed after it every day, working through the challenges and even the additional rain showers that continued during the pumping process. Multiple pumps were used over several weeks to help move the water.

The catch fence in front of the pit stands suffered extensive damage. We lost nine catch fence poles, several newer pit lights, signs, and all of the porta-potties were damaged as well.

Since then, we’ve been steadily chipping away at the recovery effort. All porta-potties have been replaced, basic cleanup has been completed where possible, and all damaged catch fence poles have been removed. The fencing and cables are already prepped and ready for the new poles, which are currently being prepared for installation.

Many improvements had already been completed following our last race before this storm arrived. Unfortunately, the most significant damage was to the racing surface itself. There’s no need to sugarcoat it—the track took a beating. The silver lining is that we won’t be patching problem areas. Instead, we will be completely rebuilding and reshaping the entire racing surface. The material wasn’t lost; much of it was simply displaced into the infield. We have a solid plan in place and are ready to move forward once Mother Nature gives us a stable weather window.

We had finally begun to get some relief from the weather, but now another tropical system is developing south of us. Rather than rush into major work only to have it impacted again, we’re taking a cautious approach and monitoring conditions closely before moving forward.

With that in mind, we are canceling the June 20th race. At this time, we are targeting July 3rd and 4th for our return. There is simply too much work remaining and too many weather-related unknowns to realistically be race-ready by June 20th.

Before our return, the track surface will be completely rebuilt. We also have a new PA system ready to be installed in the pits. Many of the existing pit lights needed replacement, and that project is already underway. New light poles are already on-site and staged in the back pits for future lighting improvements once we get caught up on the current repairs.

We were also generously sponsored with a large amount of w**d killer—thank you to Freddy with King Ranch Ag & Turf. We are currently spraying w**ds throughout the facility and continuing mosquito treatments to help prepare the grounds for everyone’s return.

A tremendous amount of work has already been accomplished by a small but dedicated crew consisting of Bill, Jerry, Dublin, Tim, and myself. We also have additional volunteers and specialists scheduled to assist with upcoming projects.

One additional request: Please refrain from driving out to the track or around the facility just to take a look. We are actively working on repairs and recovery efforts, and unnecessary traffic can create additional challenges and safety concerns. We know everyone is anxious to see the progress, and we appreciate that excitement. However, if you pull into the facility while work is underway, be prepared to park, grab a tool, and lend a hand. Right now, the best way to help is either by staying clear of the work areas or joining us in getting racing back as quickly as possible.

With that being said, I am penciling in June 20th as a work day. We could really use help with mowing, w**d eating, and general cleanup. Many hands make light work, and it never takes long when a good group comes together.

More details will be provided as we continue to monitor the weather and finalize work plans.

Thank you all for your patience, support, and understanding throughout this process. We know everyone is eager to get back to racing, and we want to ensure that when we do return, it’s done the right way. We refuse to cut corners or settle for anything less than providing the best possible experience for our racers, teams, sponsors, and fans.

We’ll see you all soon.
