This is where it gets exciting. We're now ready to accept donations — and every dollar goes directly toward bringing live music to our community.
We're still looking for volunteers for several committees, and actively searching for a Treasurer to help us steward what you generously give.
Our 501(c)(3) application is pending with the IRS. We have every reason to believe it will be approved — and when it is, all donations made from our incorporation date will be retroactively tax deductible.

Woo-Hoo! This is getting FUN!

The ink is finally dry on our official paperwork and the Vermont Roots Music Collective (VRMC) is ready to start rolling. The whole mission here is simple: music for everyone, no barriers, just neighbors gathering around great tunes.
We are firm believers that music grows best when we work together, so we’ve been working on partnering with local folks here in Cornwall. Right now, we’re in early talks to bring some community-spirited music gatherings to two of our town’s historic buildings, plus a favorite local agricultural spot.
Nothing is etched in stone or signed in blood just yet. It's a collaborative effort and we are still figuring things out. No official dates or promises to drop today, but the energy is high and the future is looking bright.
Keep your ears to the ground, Cornwall. We’re working on something special for you. ✌️🎶

🎵 Hey Friends of VRMC — we need your help.

We're looking for a Treasurer to join our founding board.

This isn't a back-office role — it's a founding position in something genuinely exciting. The Vermont Roots Music Collective is a new Vermont nonprofit with a simple mission: bring Vermont-rooted musicians to barns, backyards, town greens, and community spaces across the state. Music for all.

We're looking for someone with bookkeeping, accounting, or nonprofit financial management experience who believes that live music makes communities stronger.

What's involved:

• Oversee VRMC's finances and bookkeeping

• Present financial reports at quarterly board meetings

• Help us navigate our 501(c)(3) application — we're close

• Be part of building something that lasts

This is a volunteer board position. Time commitment is modest — a few hours a month — but the impact is real.

You've been with us since the backyard days in West Cornwall. You know what this is and what it can become. If you have the background and the passion, we'd love to talk.

When the Vermont Roots Music Collective is up and running, what LOCAL acts are you hoping to see? We'd love to hear from the fans on this one—who are you currently following or seeing live?
Note to artists: Hold tight! We’ll be opening up a separate conversation for you soon. For now, let’s let the fans do the talking!

Looking back on the four summers of music in the backyard, what were some of your favorite memories? What performance stays in your mind? Or is it the sunsets you remember most? For me I think it was watching the community come together. Seeing the kids I usually only saw at school playing in the yard while their moms and dads enjoyed a show and a picnic.

Wheels are turning to bring live local music back to the community. The VRMC is hoping that vibe we had at the WCBCS is still alive.

Hey neighbors,

Some of you might remember the backyard concerts we used to do here in West Cornwall. I'm thinking about bringing them back, but this time I'd like to do it right – set up a nonprofit so it's sustainable, can support local musicians fairly, and maybe even expand to other communities around Vermont.

I'm calling it Vermont Roots Music Collective. The idea is pretty simple: keep doing what worked with the backyard series (intimate shows, suggested donations, great local music), but also create a structure that could organize concerts at town greens, parks, maybe even some of the old opera houses around the state.

Before I get too far down this road, I'd like to see if there's interest from folks who might want to help build this thing. I'm looking for:

- People interested in being on a founding board (we'd need 5-7 people)
- Volunteers for various committees – programming, logistics, fundraising, marketing, that kind of thing
- Anyone who just wants to be involved and has ideas

I'm planning to hold an informational meeting to talk through what this could look like, but honestly I have no idea if six people will show up or sixty. So I'm trying to gauge interest first before I figure out where to hold it.

If this sounds interesting to you, shoot me a message. Let me know if you're interested in:
- Board member role
- Volunteer committee work
- Just want to hear more about it

Once I know roughly how many people are interested, I'll figure out a location and send out meeting details.

And if you just want the concerts back and don't care about the organizational stuff – that's cool too. Let me know and I'll keep you posted when we (hopefully) get things rolling again.
