Nice write up of this year’s epic race!
One of the quickest 5K races in town was held on Saturday in Coral Gables. The 6th Annual Mitchell & West LLC Holiday Run had over 200 runners under some clear crisp weather. The race begins and ends near Gables City Hall. Only a few races a year get to use this course. In the Spring you have the Tour of the Gables 5K/10K that also uses this scenic fast route. This year's Holiday Run winner was Nacho Hernando who ran a new course record time of 14:40. 5K Times under 15 are hard to come by in Miami but we should see some more of those in the near future with the help of the Nike V***r Flys. In second, we saw Juan Felipe Arévalo in 16:06 who is coming off a big win at the Miami Turkey Trot. In real close third was Jonathan Volpi of Broward who clocked a 16:07. For the women Alice Henley who ran another blazing time of 17:29. Anja Sherry ran second with an 18:16 and Sonja Friend-Uhl a who is a very well-known local competitor having been an Olympics Trials Qualifier finished in an 18:23.
