Did you know? One of the most famous scenes in The General features a real steam locomotive crashing through a burning bridge into a river.

It wasn't a miniature or movie trick, they actually crashed a full-sized locomotive for the film!

The spectacular stunt was one of the most expensive single shots ever filmed during the silent era and remains one of cinema's most iconic moments.
