We are aware of the incident that occurred at the Greater Columbus Convention Center during Columbus City Schools commencement activities on Thursday, May 28. Every guest deserves to feel safe and welcomed in our facility.

Safety protocols and security personnel were in place throughout the event and remain in effect. We take these incidents seriously and remain committed to the well-being of every person who walks through our doors.

The Greater Columbus Convention Center, Columbus City Schools, Columbus Division of Police, private security providers and our community partners continue to coordinate security, traffic, pedestrian and crowd management measures throughout the remainder of graduation weekend.

We are proud to host Columbus City Schools commencement ceremonies and remain committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment as we celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2026.

The Arnold Sports Festival showcases our venue’s versatility and operational excellence. From unique programming not typical in convention centers to transforming our exhibit halls and ballrooms into championship arenas.

With welcoming over 100,000+ people and an estimated 20,000 athletes competing, it was a sight to see at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.

Fun fact, this is the 50th Anniversary of Arnold Schwarzenegger promoting the sport of bodybuilding in Columbus, Ohio.
