Ohio Silent Sand Volleyball Tournament Rules
Team Rules
1. No limited number of deaf players on a team, however can’t have more than two males on the court at a time. Two or more ladies must be on the court at all times.
2. A team can have maximum of six players per coed team but must have four players to qualify to play. If a team has only four players and one of the players become injured d
uring the tournament which result to only three eligible players to play then the team will be disqualified from the tournament. Playing Rules – All games shall be governed by the
1. Playing rules of the Ohio volleyball rules.
3. If a team is not there when their scheduled game time starts, they have two minutes to show up with four eligible players or their game is forfeit.
4. A game will be considered completed when one team’s score is 15 points cap during round robin and will have two games each round which team wins will determine their place in bracket.
5. During double elimination bracket, game is completed when one team’s score is 21 points and is ahead by 2 points. Teams will be eliminated from competition following a double-elimination process.
6. During the championship, the game will become best of 2 out of 3 games; if a team from loser bracket beats the team from winner bracket in the 2 out of 3 games, then 2nd round of 2 out of 3 games will occur to determine the champion. The first two games will be completed when score is 21 and by two points, the 3rd game will be completed when score is 15 and by two points.
7. Prior to each serve, 2 players must be in the front court and 2 in the back court. Once the ball is served, players may move to any position on the court. Back court players may not block or attack at the net.
8. Players may not touch the net during play. Players may not completely cross the center line. Some part of the foot must remain in contact with or be above the line before a foul is called. If any other part of the body touches the opponents’ court, a foul will be called.
9. Reaching over the net is only permitted as part of follow-through of an attack or defending an attack that has been completed by the offensive team.
10. Blocking an attack is not counted as a ball contact. Therefore, the blocking team has three additional permitted contacts with the ball. In addition, the person blocking the attack is permitted an immediate second consecutive contact with the ball.
11. Tournament Bracket – Will be determined by the Committee.
12. Official Spokesman – Before each game is played in this tournament, each team must have a captain or coach who is the official spokesman for his team and shall be the responsible person to the official.
13. Referee Decision – The volunteer referee decision shall be final on the decision of fact and on the conduct of the game where such decisions do not involve interpretations of the rules of the organization or the eligibility of the players. Players can’t give their volleyball experience/opinion to referees. If that occurs during the game, point will be automated reward to other team.
14. The volunteer referees can’t play during the tournament; or players cannot choose to help with referees.
