Episode 56: The Band Perry is Psycho!“
I heard you like Nirvana
So I listen all night while I sleep
I’ve memorized ten songs ‘cause
You might ask me if I can name three.”
On Thursday December 4, 2025 we hosted a ten hour photo/video shoot for The Band Perry. OOOOOOOO!! Yes, that Band Perry. When the request came in to reserve the Looney Jones House, the normal questions were asked. Band/artist name. Theme of the video. Size of crew. In this case, I think Renee Zellweger said it best in the movie Jerry Maguire, “You had me at ‘hello’.”
You will undoubtedly remember this band from their smash hit “If I Die Young” in 2010. It was written by band member Kimberly Perry on their album The Band Perry. The original band from Ridgeland, Mississippi was made up of sister Kimberly Perry, and brothers Neil Perry and Reid Perry. The current band members are Kimberly and her husband Johnny Costello.
We were contacted by Alysse Gafkjen to be the location for her photo shoot and video shoot for their new song Psychological. It is a haunting ballad about falling in love. Maybe falling a little too hard. Maybe.
Behind the scenes. Production needed a green room and bathroom. The bathroom was easy, since we only have one bathroom that could work for a crew that size. The green room turned out to be our den. It makes sense if you think about it. Our den has lots of floor space and many spots to sit and recover. Our kitchen even ended up being a hair and makeup area. Normally most of these rooms are off-limits in our contract, but when Kimberly and Alysse asked so nicely, we were glad to help. Plus, let’s be real, the extra room fees made it even easier. The artists and crew took really good care of our historic home. As usual, there were several crew members that had shot here before. That always puts us more at ease. It also helped that Kimberly and Johnny are actively working on restoring an older home of their own in the middle Tennessee area.
To be absolutely truthful, Johnny and Kimberly were some of the nicest and most down to earth folks we have had in Looney Jones House. We had a chance to talk old house restoration experiences and got to remember back when we were restoring other houses with little kiddos in the picture. A busy time for sure. And it’s always interesting to be talking with two individuals one minute and a few minutes later they are in full costume singing a future hit in front of lights and cameras...IN YOUR HOME. So fun. Highly recommend. 10/10.
Sorry we didn’t get as many behind the scenes pics from this shoot. As is the case with most of our bigger artists, their label asked for no photos by us. As is our custom, in that case, we were promised some of their behind the scenes shots and at least one “Owners and Artists” picture. I think we will call it “Merry Christmas from the Perrys and the Costellos and the Looneys and the Joneses.”
So now that the song and video is out, please take a moment to watch and listen and like and comment and follow. We are so proud Kimberly and Johnny let us be a part. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THE SONG! Do you think I’m taking this too far?...No.
