You start with a rough rock and a vision. Then the stone spends the next three hours reminding you that it has opinions too.

This was my final project in lapidary class with turning a rough chunk of stone into a gemstone by hand. Every step in this video is sped up 5x, but the reality was a lot less glamorous—3 hours of noise, water, patience, and learning not to grind away the parts I wanted to keep - like my fingers!
As an artist, I'm used to adding layers. Lapidary has taught me the opposite: sometimes the beauty is already there, hidden inside the rock, and your job is simply to reveal it.
Still very much a beginner, but pretty proud of this Spotted fawnstone gem from . ✨

Another Day another rock. from right here in . Getting more comfortable in class with the big scary saw! this was definitely a harder stone to cut than some of the others. so interesting how you can really feel it through the machines.

BEHOLD! New skill loading 💾⬆️
Ive been making jewelry for nearly 20 years and always wanted to learn how to cut and polish from raw. I learned so much today with Master lapidary artist and metalsmith David Anderson .
I even managed to make 2 nice turquoise cabs and destroyed my manicure lol.
Can't wait til next week!

Closing out the weekend with this mini-collection: "Liminal-A Colorado Mountain Desert Inspired Moment".Inspired by the meeting point of high desert, plains and mountain landscapes across Southern Colorado and the Southwest with natural banding in tones of sand, clay, stone, and sky.
From bold statement rings to whimsical mountain accesnts this collection moves between presence and restraint. Structured, organic, and rooted.
Wearable art, shaped by place.
