Crocker Tailgate: South Carolina

Howdy Ags!

Last home game of the season. How is it here already? Regardless of how it happened, the Ags are entering this weekend riding a 3 game winning streak and look to extend that before heading off on the road for the final difficult matchups against Georgia and LSU.

We've got a late kick to close out the season (woohoo, it's not 11am!), with the fun beginning at 6:30pm. The tailgate will be up by 11am. We've changed some things up this year and we'll be rotating through some folks cooking. There won't be a started charge for food, but we will have a tip jar out if you'd like to contribute. All donations go to offset costs of the tailgate. As part of this, we have returned to BYOB. We will have a cooler with ice available.

For those that have grown accustomed to Barney cooking up a big ol' pot of chili for the final game of the season, I sadly have to inform you that that will not be the case this year due to scheduling conflicts for Barney. Instead, since we are playing the Gamecocks, I felt it would be appropriate for us to have some smoked yard bird.

For those of you who may have not made it out to the tailgate yet, or know where it is located, we’re at the northern corner of the Reed Arena parking lot (https://goo.gl/ecEPpE).

As always, if there's anyone that you'd like to add to this distribution list, let me know and I'll get them added.

BEAT THE HELL OUTTA South Carolina!

Thanks and gig'em.

Howdy Ags!

Wait, there's a game this weekend? Let's hope the Ags remember that as well. We've got a good opportunity to do some tuning work on the run game (where'd that come from?) and work on our defense (where'd that go?) as we lead into the final stretch with some heavy hitters around the corner.

Kick is at 11:00am this week and the tailgate will be up by 8:30am. We've changed some things up this year and we'll be rotating through some folks cooking. There won't be a started charge for food, but we will have a tip jar out if you'd like to contribute. All donations go to offset costs of the tailgate. As part of this, we have returned to BYOB. We will have a cooler with ice available.

This week we'll have turkey legs after the game, so make sure you swing by post-game.

Crocker Tailgate: Mississippi State

Howdy Ags!

I'm going to keep this one super short this week. Braden Mann has some serious voodoo skills. Now let's finish the sweep of Mississippi and take out Fail State!

Kick is at 11:00am this week and the tailgate will be up by 8am. We've changed some things up this year and we'll be rotating through some folks cooking. There won't be a started charge for food, but we will have a tip jar out if you'd like to contribute. All donations go to offset costs of the tailgate. As part of this, we have returned to BYOB. This week we'll have chili and frito pies after the game, so make sure you swing by post-game.

As always, if there's anyone that you'd like to add to this distribution list, let me know and I'll get them added.

As an aside, if anyone has an extra ticket, I'm in the market for one.

Crocker Tailgate: Alabama

Howdy Ags!

I'm not sure where to start on this one. David and Goliath? Spanish Inquisition? (nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!). In the end, everyone expects the Ags to continue to have running woes and to be Bama's whipping boy for this match up. And that could most definitely be the case, as the Ags have not put been putting a solid product out there for a run game and have become very one dimensional. Combine that with staring down receivers, and you've got a bad mix against a good team.

But the Ags have everything to win here, and Bama has everything to lose.

Kick is at 2:30 this week and the tailgate will be up by 8am. We've changed some things up this year and we'll be rotating through some folks cooking. There won't be a started charge for food, but we will have a tip jar out if you'd like to contribute. All donations go to offset costs of the tailgate. As part of this, we have returned to BYOB. We will have a cooler with ice available.

This week we'll have brisket, sides, and some dips.

For those of you who may have not made it out to the tailgate yet, or know where it is located, we’re at the northern corner of the Reed Arena parking lot (https://goo.gl/ecEPpE).

As always, if there's anyone that you'd like to add to this distribution list, let me know and I'll get them added.

Crocker Tailgate: Auburn

Howdy Ags!

Real football returns to Aggieland this weekend as the Ags start conference play as the #8 ranked Auburn Tigers come to town. And part of that "real" question is going to be our receiving corps. I won't lie, I was thinking about Clifford Franklin during that last game.

If the Ags can get that under control, they've got a chance. The other key will be rolling out of the gate, which even against Lamar, we stumbled on the first drive. The Ags are a 3.5 point favorite, and we're still in control of our destiny. So let's get out there Saturday and yell for our Ags.

Kick is at 2:30 this week and the tailgate will be up by 9am. We've changed some things up this year and we'll be rotating through some folks cooking. There won't be a started charge for food, but we will have a tip jar out if you'd like to contribute. All donations go to offset costs of the tailgate. As part of this, we have returned to BYOB. Crocker Tailgate: Texas State

Howdy Ags!

It's that time of year again! Another football season is upon us, and this one can either make or break us, with the likes of Clemson, Bama, Georgia, and LSU, not to mention the rest of the SEC. Fortunate for the Ags, we get a tune up game before heading off to Clemson when Texas State comes into town this Thursday.

Because of the Thursday night game, the tailgate will be extremely trimmed down. We'll have a popup and a table, but we won't have any food/drinks out. The tailgate will be up by 5pm and kick is 7:30pm.

For those that are going, enjoy the game, I expect it will be lightly attended.
For those of you who may have not made it out to the tailgate yet, or know where it is located, we’re at the northern corner of the Reed Arena parking lot (https://goo.gl/ecEPpE).

Howdy Ags!

Don't look now, but the Ags just won their second game in November (is that allowed?). Mond actually had some good throws, connecting up with Jace multiple times for TD receptions, as the offense looked better. The concerning part, however, was the defense. We already know that our secondary has an innate ability to make QB's look like Heisman contenders, however, we were having issues with the run as well, and had flat out pedestrian numbers when it came to allowances on third down conversions. We're going to have to tighten that up to have a chance against LSU. On the up side, once Jones came back from his first half suspension, they couldn't pick on Oliver any more. The biggest tease moment of the game though, had to be when Starkel was taking snaps on the side line in the 4th, looking like he was about to go in. Instead, Mond gets trotted back out there for the last possession. It's been said by others, and I don't blame him one bit, He gone.

On to this week. Unless you've been living under a rock, or you're a severe 2%'er, you already know who the Ags are playing this week, and that currently, we haven't pulled a game from them since joining the SEC (for those counting at home, it's worse than that - the Ags' last win against the Tigers was back in '95 under Slocum).

Kickoff for the final regular season game for the Ags is set for 6:30pm CST. we'll be out by noon. Barney has come down all the way from Colorado to make sure we get treated with chili this week. As always, we request $10 for food, supplies, and tailgate improvements. If you'd like to skip the hassle of bringing beer, we will also have Lone Star/Lone Star Light for a $5 contribution (all you can drink, or until we run out). For those that wish to bring their own, there will be a cooler with ice available. We'll also have water and lemonade available for the young'uns.

If you plan to join us, let me know how many will be coming with you so that we can have the right amount of food.

For those of you who may have not made it out to the tailgate yet, or know where it is located, we’re at the northern corner of the Reed Arena parking lot (https://goo.gl/ecEPpE).

Remaining Games:
24NOV - LSU (Barney - chili)

Howdy Ags!

A look in the eyes. That's how close we were to seeing just what Starkel could do against Ole Miss. But Fisher stayed with his boy, Small hit his field goal, and the Ags pulled out the win. All I can guess is that the Mond Fisher normally sees in practice is the one that dropped those nice TD passes into the receivers' waiting arms, and not the Mond that stares down his receiver until he's at the end of his route and then throws into double coverage. If that's the case, then Mond seriously needs to settle down and let the game come to him. One highlight we can call out is that Jones looked much better in the secondary than Oliver has, however, thanks to a ticky-tack junk timeout from Ole Miss, Jones will be out for the first half of the UAB game. Additionally, Williams put down over 200 yards on the ground (228!). That gave him enough yards to break 3,000 over the last three years.

This week sees the Ags squaring off against the UAB Blazers (what's a blazer?). Now, of corse, when we scheduled this game, it was supposed to be a cupcake late season game that allowed us to rest up for LSU. Instead, UAB is 9-1, and ranked in the Top 25 in the Coaches Poll (much better than A&M's current 34th place ranking). Part of what has gotten UAB to their 9-1 (7-0) ranking is being 3rd in the nation in overall defense (15th against the rush, 4th against the pass). So I don't expect A&M's passing game to suddenly take off and find it's spark. Like so many of the Ags' prior matches, it's going to be a game in the trenches. Control the clock, control the line of scrimmage, control the ball, and don't give up two costly turnovers, and A&M walks away with a win heading into Thanksgiving.

Thanks to UAB having a great season, we've got a 6pm kick. As a result, we'll be out around noon. I'm going to smoke something up (haven't decided what yet... brisket, ribs, chicken... something), and food will be ready around 2. As always, we request $10 for food, supplies, and tailgate improvements. If you'd like to skip the hassle of bringing beer, we will also have Lone Star/Lone Star Light for a $5 contribution (all you can drink, or until we run out). Howdy Ags!

A month has passed since we last had a game at Kyle. Fortunate for us, we get three games in a row now at Kyle to finish out the season. Unfortunate for us, it's November and we're seeing a common refrain.

That's right boys and girls, it's time for the November Slide. Slide in the standings, slide in production, and slide down to apathy!

We've had back to back games that were winnable, but we got in our own way. Now, after nine games, we're not seeing the progression from Mond that's expected. Either Fisher really loves him some Mond, Starkle has really been stinking it up at practice, or Fisher can't get past the idea that he has to have a QB that can move (don't let the sacks stat line get in the way here). I just can't understand how it can be that difficult to find someone that can throw the ball more than 10 yards from the line of scrimmage with any sense of accuracy. I will say, all of the Auburn fans we interacted with were very nice, and we had a good number of folks in maroon at the game. Just sad to watch it play out the way it did.

So now we've got ourselves an Ole Miss team that we should be able to beat easily, but in all likelihood, if we get inside the 20, our drive will stall out, and we'll miss the field goal. Yup, apathy is back in full swing.

Our wonderful performances over the last two weeks have earned us the privilege of an 11am kick, so we'll be out there nice and early, with beer alright trying to cover the tears by 8am (don't judge me man). Papa has offered to smoke up some ham for some post game grub, so we'll be looking to eat following the game. As always, we request $10 for food, supplies, and tailgate improvements. If you'd like to skip the hassle of bringing beer, we will also have Lone Star/Lone Star Light for a $5 contribution (all you can drink, or until we run out). 10/01/2018

Howdy Ags!

I don't know about the rest of you, but I for one was glad Saturday's game didn't go to OT, like so many of our recent meetings with Arkansas have. Much like the game against Bama, it showed us areas that the team really needs to focus on improving, like keeping the foot on the pedal when you go up, and throwing in front of receivers and not behind them. Continuing to step up big, our defensive line has really limited opponents' run games, and Daylon is finally starting to play like the 5-star everyone expected him to be.

This week pairs the Ags up with a game that I think has snuck up on most. Looking at the schedule before the year started, nobody expected Kentucky to be a top 15 opponent. With this being their first trip to Aggieland in over 65 years (series is tied 1-1, with the Ags -and Paul "Bear" Bryant- winning the last match up 7-6 at Kentucky in 1953), I expect we're going to see a lot of visitors sporting the "Cayt" blue, looking for this to be a big game. Kentucky thinks they've got a good power rushing game, so we'll see how the D-line stacks up against them. It should go without saying, but with the incompleteness we've been seeing I think it has to be said anyways, the Ags can't sleep walk through this game. They need to come out fired up and beating them down. To help them, we need to make sure that Kyle Field is absolutely ROCKING Saturday night and help send those cats running with their tail between their legs.

Kickoff is set for 6:00pm and we'll be out there by 10am. George has offered to cook up some ribs and sausage, Chili cheese frito corn salad for a side and Texas sheet cake for dessert. We'll be looking to eat around 2pm. As always, we request $10 for food, supplies, and tailgate improvements. If you'd like to skip the hassle of bringing beer, we will also have Lone Star/Lone Star Light for a $5 contribution (not per can).
