The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) is seeking public feedback on proposed improvements along US 1 (Baltimore Avenue) from MD 193 (University Boulevard) to Sunnyside Avenue in Prince George’s County. Proposed concepts include pedestrian and bicycle accommodations, bus accessibility improvements, landscaping, and safety enhancements.

Community members are invited to attend a Public Informational Workshop:
📍 Beltsville Academy (4300 Wicomico Ave., Beltsville)
📅 Wednesday, June 24, 2026
⏰ 5–7 PM

Attendees can review proposed design concepts, ask questions, and share feedback directly with project representatives. There will be no formal presentation — stop by anytime during workshop hours.

🇺🇸 Memorial Day Observance Update – Location Change 🇺🇸

Due to weather concerns, the City of College Park’s Annual Memorial Day Observance has been moved to the indoor hall at American Legion Post 217 John B. Latimer
📍 9218 Baltimore Avenue, College Park, MD
🗓 Monday, May 25
🕚 11:00 AM
🍽 Lunch will follow the service as originally planned.

The program will feature patriotic music, guest speakers including Major (Ret.) George Onyenyeonwu, Veterans Affairs Director for Prince George’s County, and a wreath-laying ceremony honoring those who gave their lives in service to our nation.

We also invite attendees to bring photos of loved ones who served — whether living or deceased — to be displayed on our Honors Table as we remember and honor their sacrifice and dedication.

Please join us as our community comes together in remembrance and gratitude this Memorial Day. 🇺🇸
