2 Weddings 900 Miles Apart in 1987! 💒

We met a lovely couple at the recent showcase who we’re married on 10/24/87 at St. Cecilia’s Church now The Arches. Larry and I were married in Epworth, Iowa one week earlier on 10/17/87.

Seeing their photos we couldn’t help but notice that even though one wedding was in the East in PA and the other in the Midwest in IA there were many similarities.
💍 hairstyles
💍 church ceremonies were common
💍 balloons were popular in 1987
💍 white & ivory were better for both of us than mauve & blue which were popular
💍 shorter bridesmaids dresses
💍 bouquets on our dresses were a thing
💍 videos were taken on a tripod 🤷‍♀️
💍 weddings were simpler
💍 IG, FB & Pinterest weren’t around

One of the funnier things that we didn’t realize til after hosting weddings at The Arches was how beautiful backdrops our backdrop could have been. At the Midway Hotel in Dubuque, Iowa where we hosted our wedding our backdrop was two swinging doors where waitstaff served our 315 guests a delicious family style dinner. (Our wedding was the smallest of my family who had 500-700 guests)

Our beautiful bridesmaids had the coatrack behind them. 🤦‍♀️😬

I could go on…..we want our couples to know that they should have the wedding that they envision and works for them. And most importantly is to focus on the ceremony and that you’re getting married surrounded by those that love you. That’s why at The Arches, we are happy to offer couples a beautiful and customizable venue. We truly want them to have a stress free Iowa kind of wedding day. 🌽🥂💍🤍 In the background of the balloon photos is where I spent 1st-4th grade. ❤️❤️

We realize not every venue can grab those amazing shots from above — and we actually have TWO balconies to make it happen.

Danielle and Nathan took full advantage of the back balcony for some really fun moments — the flower girl dropping petals on Danielle as she started down the aisle, the big group shot, and even the bouquet and garter toss. This is the group that Danielle and Nathan can count on.

You’re getting to see the prep and the photo that the photographer created. Now we can’t wait for the photographer’s photos because we can’t be everywhere at once while all these memorable moments are happening!

When you’re earning your Master’s from West Chester University, working full-time, and running both an event decorating business and bartending service, life stays busy. ✨

Xavia has decorated at The Arches many times, but this celebration was especially meaningful — her own graduation party. We absolutely loved this elegant serpentine table setup paired with elevated florals and classic white place settings.

The second photo shows how beautifully this same design can transition into a wedding reception — creating a gathering that feels intimate, celebratory, and elevated all at once. There’s something special about guests being seated in a way that feels connected and cozy, almost like welcoming everyone into your home for one unforgettable celebration. 🤍

We loved meeting so many amazing couples and talented vendors at the in Oaks, PA! Since we live just 1.6 miles from the , this one truly felt like a home game for us. ❤️

One of our favorite parts of the day was hearing how many people already know and love The Arches — and yes, they’re right… it really is beautiful. ✨ But more importantly, we believe your venue should fit your vision. Choosing where to get married is such a personal decision, and while we’d love for everyone to fall in love with The Arches, what matters most is finding the place that feels right for you.

To every couple who said “I do” here, every family who gathered for a special moment, and every caterer, planner, florist, musician, photographer, and vendor who helped bring these events to life — thank you for making The Arches what it is today.

Five years ago, The Arches was just a vision. Today, it’s a place filled with celebrations, relationships, memories, and people who have helped shape this story every step of the way. 🤍

This place has never just been about events. It’s about people, relationships, and creating a space where others feel welcomed and at home.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who celebrated with us at our 5-year anniversary gathering and to the amazing vendor community that continues to pour so much talent and heart into this space.

A special thank you to for creating the beautiful anniversary cake display and individually packaged cake slices for our guests — every detail was perfect. ✨
