Kirkland Art Center

Kirkland Art Center The Kirkland Art Center was established as a community arts organization 60 years ago in the second floor of the town library as a meeting place.

From the beginning there were classes, exhibitions, films, concerts and lectures. The KAC is now an active, regional, multi-arts center, located in an old church, barn and connecting addition, on the village green in Clinton. The nature of the activities and mission has stayed steadfast, and with the support of the community, members, volunteers, funding sources and guidance from the NYSCA, our pr

ogramming has broadened. Demonstrating high-quality, diverse programming, the KAC has become a a cultural hub in central New York and through cooperation with other organizations has developed a network of services and opportunities for artists and art lovers of all ages and disciplines.

Our Gallery and Offices will be closed tomorrow, Friday, June 19th, in recognition of Juneteenth.

The mission of the Kirkland Art Center is to educate children and adults, to advocate for artists and the arts, and to engage the community in a range of cultural experiences and opportunities. This is truly possible only with the inclusion of a rich diversity of voices, experiences, and perspectives.

By promoting cultural equity within our own programs, staffing, and outreach, the Kirkland Art Center pledges to position itself as a local leader in cultivating an engaging and supportive environment for cultural expression that accurately reflects the wealth of diversity in our nation and community.

In this spirit, we acknowledge the importance of a holiday like Juneteenth, which commemorates the end of slavery in the United States.

We will resume regular hours, Saturday, June 20th, 12-4 pm.

Busy Day at KAC this Saturday, June 13!

The performance of the Buffers from the 1970s at the Kirkland Art Center at 2:00 PM includes 9 male singers, who, together in the 70s, commissioned and performed a ca****la music throughout the East Coast and in Britain, were the first major turn for Hamilton College’s signature male singers from the college songbook to dramatic and often newly arranged songs to tickle the ear and the heart. This year, returning to campus to celebrate the 50th reunion of two of the members, they are delighted to welcome you to the Arts Center in downtown Clinton.

Admission is free, but enjoy the arts center and the song. Members will have travelled from Minnesota and Virginia, as well as Boston and Pittsburgh.

Then stick around and hear renowned artist Eric Alugas speak about his work currently on exhibit - this large-scale, complicated art is worth exploring with the artist, born in Louisiana and now residing in NYC. Alugas's work unites threads of literature, the physical process of painting, and the unsettled complexities of American history. He will speak at 4:00 p.m. in the gallery. Don't miss it!
