Gospel music grew from the spirituals sung by enslaved African Americans who used music to express faith, hope, perseverance, and a longing for FREEDOM. Over generations, those spirituals evolved into gospel music, becoming a powerful voice in churches and communities across the nation.

Today, gospel music remains deeply rooted in African American culture, inspiring worship, strengthening communities, and preserving a rich legacy of resilience and faith.
