That's a wrap! The California International Airshow last weekend in Salinas, CA was a fantastic way to wrap up the airshow season and my airshow career. Despite losing the Blue Angels to the government shutdown (boo) we put on a great show. I did a LOT of flying with Friday's rehearsal, Friday evening's twilight show, Saturday and Sunday Circling the jumpers, teaser act, my 12 minute routine along with racing Hayden Proffit's 300 mph jet truck while inverted. Hats off to the organizers and air boss team that did substantial juggling to work around a big hole in the plan.
A bittersweet flight. I will miss the flying, the fans and seeing my airshow family across the country. Pam and I will be switching gears and spending our flying time and summers seeing the country. Thanks to my most significant mentors in the airshow business: Bill Stein, Gary Rower, Buck Roetman and Scott McMillan. These guys helped me get my foot in the door and with their support, was able to introduced to and able to book lots of interesting shows over the years. I was fortunate to fly with the best (in no particular order), the Blues, the T-Birds, Rob H, Bill S, Brad W, Gary R, Buck R, Vicki B, the Snowbirds, Sean T, Warren P, Kyle F, Jeff B, Tom L and a bunch of great Air Bosses, announcers and organizers, and many others I'm forgetting to name (apologies)! And thanks to my sponsors and fans. And last but not least, to Pam ❤ It's been a great ride!
