A Word from the Galla Family

As I woke up this morning I am feeling so grateful to all our friends and family. Today is the 4th annual Tim Galla Memorial Run and like most things in 2020 it definitely is different this year. We can not thank everyone enough for participating virtual this year! We have gotten so many texts and emails from people who have walked/ran in honor of Tim these past few weeks. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for keeping Tim's memory alive and for helping us support his 3 Alma Maters: St Charles, St Ignatius and Loyola University Maryland. It's hard to believe that it has been close to 4 years since the last time we have been able to receive one of his huge hugs or see his smile or witness his kindness to others. We miss you so much Tim. If you have forgotten to register, it's not too late you can still register today at Hermescleveland.com. If you are in the area of North Olmsted and are feeling hungry please stop at Cocky's (26703 Brookpark Ext. North Olmsted 44070) for lunch today. From 12-4, 15% of purchases will go towards the Tim Galla Memorial Run. They have amazing bagel sandwiches and have been so supportive to our cause. Lastly, if you are able just do a random act of kindness today in Tim's name. We all need a little joy right now. As most of you know I'm usually just a stalker on facebook, if I was more technologically savvy I could have posted the link to the race and Coky's website but I don't know how to do that!! 🏃‍♀️3️⃣ Days Until the VIRTUAL Tim Galla Memorial Home Run!!
Because of the continued governmental recommendations to stay socially distant and avoid large gatherings, this year's run will now be a safe, VIRTUAL, ANY-WAY 5K!!
⤵️So, what does that mean?
To participate, please register through Hermes as you normally would. You can click here to do so. Please choose the $25 Virtual registration option.
You will still get the 👕fantastic t-shirt (pictured below) and a race bib mailed to your house (or hand delivered if you're close by!) T-shirts and bibs will be mailed out a few weeks after the race so that we can keep registration open through Sunday, October 18.
⭐️⭐️Anytime between today and October 18, you can log your 1 mile or 5K anywhere and any way you choose! One mile on the treadmill counts! 5K in a kayak counts!
🏃🚴‍♀️🏊‍♂️You can walk, swim, run, bike, row, hike, crawl, or move any other way you can think of - just do it for Tim! Pick your favorite park, use the elliptical machine at your gym, or come to the course at Edgewater - the choice is entirely up to you.
If you would like to be considered for the traditional 5K medals, please turn in your 5K outdoor running time to [email protected] before the end of the day on Sunday, October 18.
Feel free to send us a 📸picture of yourself completing your race! We'll get it posted on our page - and perhaps on an upcoming website.
If you are unable to fully participate due to the economic impact of COVID 19, please know that we appreciate your thoughts and prayers. You are still invited to send us a photo of how you choose to honor and remember Tim.
As a reminder, proceeds from the race will help fund the Timothy Galla Memorial Scholarship at Loyola University Maryland as well as impact the St. Charles Borromeo and St. Ignatius communities.

🏃‍♀️A Letter from the Galla's🏃‍♂️
Hello all,
First and foremost, we hope that you and your families are safe and healthy.
Many of you have reached out to us or to Hermes asking if our race was going to be happening as scheduled. Late last week in conjunction with Hermes and the Metroparks, the decision was made to reschedule the 2020 Tim Galla Memorial Home Run for Sunday, October 18. The event will still take place at Edgewater Park at 9:00 AM. We will still have raffle baskets, door prizes, the DJ, the food trucks, etc. There are, however, a couple of changes regarding registration options.
Because we realize that the events surrounding the coronavirus pandemic may have financially impacted some of our participants, we have made available a limited number of Complementary Race Registrations. We do not want anyone to miss our event because of the cost. This registration option will get you a chip-timed entry, but will not include a shirt.
We have also added a registration for virtual participation. If you are unable to make it to Edgewater on October 18, you can complete your 1 mile or 5 K run in Tim’s honor at your convenience in the place of your choosing. Your Virtual Registration will get you a race T-shirt, race bib, (which will be mailed to your home) and entry into the door prize drawings. To participate virtually, simply log your activity on your Fitbit or activity tracker and submit your time back to us via email by race day. We will announce our virtual race winners via email after the October event.
