It is no secret that Kevin DeOliveira loves science fiction. And TED Talks. Inspired by Heather Barnett's talk from a few years ago, "What humans can learn from semi-intelligent slime," he spent the past couple days creating this dark and evocative abstract animation. A swift personal work between commercial projects. While the enigmatic subject matter appears to have been born of the imagination for a sci-fi film, it isn't fiction at all. I could not be more proud of this piece; it oozes Kevin's passion and has stirred great intrigue in me - arguably the least “sciencey” guy on planet earth. Our last demo reel came out in the fall of 2012. A lot has changed since then, so we finally made a new one. We wanted to do something different than the standard rapid-fire montage, so we designed it to speak a little more to who we are and what we believe in. We've always said that we want to do business in a way that turns clients into true friends. Last week we received an email from a client team we love that said, "We love you, miss you guys, and can't wait to work together again!" That was it. Today, from another client, we received a signed contract for a new project with a heart in the signature! Some pretty cool validation that we're on the right track!

Last week at the Addys we were honored with a Judge's Choice Award for our animated piece "The Universal Field." Kevin had heard a fascinating talk from a particle physicist and had an awesome creative vision for bringing it to life in a way that showcased our motion design capabilities. We had a great time at the Addy Awards last night. It's always fun to hang out with our talented industry friends and we are very thankful to have taken home some awards for our awesome clients and crew!
