Maybe your heart is fragile. Maybe you’ve been heartbroken, betrayed, divorced, or experienced the loss of someone you love. We understand that putting yourself out there again isn’t always easy, especially as an adult when making new connections can feel harder than ever.

That’s why The Real Collective exists. A place where you can show up as you are, connect with people who understand, laugh a little, let your guard down, and maybe even make new friendship or find something more. You don’t have to navigate this season of life alone.

Can we talk about how men seem to have forgotten how to pursue a woman? And I don’t mean chasing, playing games, or grand gestures. I mean genuine interest, intention, effort, and consistency. A phone call. Making a plan. Following through. Being clear about what you want instead of leaving someone guessing. Somehow, we’ve reached a point where the bare minimum is being mistaken for effort.

And honestly, what attractive quality does doing the bare minimum even represent? A woman can be independent, successful, and perfectly happy on her own and still want a man who makes her feel wanted. It’s not about money or being swept off her feet. It’s about confidence, initiative, and having the courage to show genuine interest without being afraid of rejection.

Because chemistry might get someone’s attention, but character, consistency, and intention are what make someone worth getting to know. They could say all the right things, they can’t wait to see you or they’d like to hang out but are they actually doing it? Are they making direct plans? Are they taking the lead? I hear more often than not that there’s few and far between.

And to the men who still call, plan, follow through, communicate clearly, and make a woman feel like they’re genuinely excited to get to know her? Please know that it’s noticed. It’s appreciated. And it matters more than you probably realize.

I’m not blaming men, and I know good men still exist. But have we become so afraid of vulnerability, so distracted by endless options, that we’ve forgotten how to make someone feel special? You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to be intentional. So I’m genuinely curious: men, what does pursuing a woman mean to you today? And women, have you felt this shift, too?

Cuffing season is the time of year when people who might normally enjoy being single suddenly want a relationship or at least someone to spend the colder, more social months with.

🍂 When is cuffing season?

It typically starts around September/October, peaks around November through January, and starts winding down around February/March.

Hmmm, but why cuffing season can be unhealthy?
While having a partner can feel comforting, entering a relationship to avoid loneliness can be risky.
You don't need a romantic partner to make it through winter. If you're uncomfortable getting involved in a relationship with an expiration date, don't.
Invest time in nourishing relationships that stimulate you and bring you joy.

The unofficial timeline:

* September–October: “Maybe I should start dating…”
* November–December: Holiday parties, colder weather, wanting a plus-one → prime cuffing season
* January: New Year’s resolutions + “I’m ready for a relationship”
* February: Valentine’s Day intensifies it
* March: While some "cuffed" relationships successfully transition into long-term partnerships, many are built purely for winter convenience and naturally dissolve when spring arrives.
