We regret to share the news that Dale Morris Sr passed away yesterday, September 14th, 2026 after a brief battle with cancer. As most Texas fiddle players probably know, Dale was a legendary fiddler and teacher whose influence has already touched generations. He was a gentle giant with an iconic deep voice and his sensitivity as a musician is what set him apart.
Our deepest condolences to the Morris family, we're sending love and light your way.

There was a great turnout at the Old Time Fiddlers Contest in De Leon, TX yesterday! 🏆🎉
Thanks to all the contestants for coming out and participating, the volunteers who helped us prepare and run it, the audience for cheering everyone on, and the sponsors who helped make it happen.
Special thanks to Bonnie Pagitt for getting this contest started up again, Philip Atkinson for running great sound, and Wendi and Derrell Hamilton for helping us out with registration and MC duties. We are so grateful for the community that comes together to keep the grand tradition of Texas Style Fiddling alive! 🎻🎶
