After an incredibly busy spring catering season with North Meets South Catering, we are finally locked in and pushing hard toward opening the doors of Whiskey Bravo Southern Kitchen & Smokehouse.
We know this process has taken much longer than originally expected, but great things take time — just like real BBQ and Southern cooking, it can’t be rushed.
Over the last several months, we’ve poured everything we have into bringing this restaurant to life. Below are some updated photos showing the progress and how things are coming together.
We also want to address a recent comment that said:
“Almost 2 months, no update. Didn’t people give money to this farce? Shameful.”
To clear the air — Whiskey Bravo is not being built by a corporation, investors, or a million-dollar restaurant group. This project is being funded through the blood, sweat, sacrifice, and support of a personal bank account along with revenue from its sister business, North Meets South Catering.
This restaurant is being built by a local Army veteran with a passion for great food, hospitality, and serving the community long after military service ended.
Nearly everything inside this restaurant has been done by hand and learned along the way:• Painting• Electrical work• Plumbing• Running data and security wiring• Building the bar• Creating custom décor pieces• Designing and building custom restaurant wall seating by hand instead of spending $15,000+ outsourcing it
On top of all of that, he also operates a successful catering company while being an engaged father to four amazing kids.
Many nights, if you drove past the restaurant between 9 PM and 2 AM, you would’ve seen him there alone — painting walls, building booths, running wiring, checking off endless to-do lists, and slowly bringing Whiskey Bravo to life piece by piece.
That late-night grind has been the only time available after spending long days running the catering company and then going home to spend evenings with his family before heading back out to continue working on the restaurant.
This project hasn’t been built with a huge construction crew or unlimited funding. It’s been built with hard work, sacrifice, long nights, determination, and a vision of creating something special for this community.
This project has taken longer than expected because we refused to cut corners. We’re building something unique, personal, and built to last for this community.
We truly appreciate everyone who has continued supporting, encouraging, checking in, and believing in us throughout this journey.
At this point, we are pushing hard toward an opening date near the end of June — hopefully before the 4th of July weekend.
We will also begin interviewing and hiring our full staff in the coming weeks.
We can’t wait to finally welcome everyone into Whiskey Bravo.
