Meet Alyssa Katelyn Gilbert, running in memory of her grandfather, George Rada.

💬 “Every mile I run is a reminder that he’s still with me—and every finish line is one we cross together.”

🏃‍♀️ Why do you run this race?
“My grandfather, George Rada, used to run this race every year. One of my most vivid memories is watching him cross the finish line in 2001. He later passed away in 2020 from an aggressive form of lung cancer. Now, I run this race in his honor, wearing a duplicate of one of his shirts to keep his memory alive with every step.”

❤️ What do you love most about it?
“I love the deep-rooted history of this race. It’s been around for as many years as I have, and there’s something really special about being part of something with that kind of legacy.”

🔥 What keeps you coming back?
“I grew up in this area, so this race will always feel like home to me. The 10K distance isn’t always the easiest, but that’s what makes it so rewarding. It’s an accomplishment for runners of all levels, and that challenge keeps me coming back year after year.”
