On this Day of Remembrance, we reflect on the painful chapter of Japanese internment during WWII. We honor those affected and renew our commitment to protecting civil rights for all.

Planned Parenthood has provided care for over 100 years — and isn’t going anywhere.

What comes… comes! This is NOT negotiable….

Pride was born from the bravery of trans people, and it’s important to remember that the fight for our rights began with their courage and resilience. Trans people, especially trans women of color, were at the heart of the Stonewall riots and have always been leaders in the struggle for equality. Their existence, their voices, and their contributions are integral to our community’s history and future. We must honor, support, and uplift them—because there is no Pride without trans people. Their lives will never be erased.

South Bay PRIDE's HIV Outreach work and promotion of the EHE (Ending HIV Epidemic) initiative. Our outreach program is bi-national. We focus our efforts on those who have not been successful in HIV treatment, largely due to unsuccessful linkage to care. We have championed Harm Reduction and Street Medical Services in South San Diego and Tijuana. Our team has developed trust relationships with individuals suffering from mental health issues and brings services to them as much as possible. We meet the individual where they are, in this case, the Ejido Lasero Cardenas in the hills above Rosarito Beach. Help us expand these services with continuing financial support. Funding bi-national programs has always been a challenge under Republican administrations.

Utilizing Facebook as a posting platform will be a novel experience for me. However, since my posting yesterday, I have been engaged in discussions with several of my younger associates regarding the value of our advocacy as a PRIDE organization and an AIDS/HIV service provider, since 1981, with a focus on the San Diego-Tijuana region. Which remains an international hotspot for STI transmission… and one of the several reasons why we produce South Bay PRIDE Art and Music as a free to the public event. South bay Pride 🌈 is also the largest HIV/HCV/HARM REDUCTION outreach, health testing event held in south San Diego and border region.

I’m safely behind or walls of the South Bay Alliance South Bay PRIDE’s permaculture site high in the hills of Tijuana, with those who we serve and who are suffering Trump trauma. Since 2014 we have been serving LGBTQIA2S and HIV refugee migrants who are here in Baja California. We are an old school PRIDE organization and no stranger to standing up for what is right!
We will not lay down… We will not go quietly. We changed Ronald Regan’s agenda with the AIDS Epidemic. We will do the same with our transgendered siblings, and those escaping for their lives.
Again it is time to stand up… and act up against injustice, intolerance, and hate… which remains our reason to exist!
More to come… We need your financial Help to mentor others to be more effective advocates and provide them an income to serve the LGBTQIA2S border community.

About Us!

South Bay Alliance Association, Inc. (SBA) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization building a coalition of the LGBT community and our allies for social networking, business promotion, and political awareness in South San Diego County and Baja California North.

SBA began in the Fall of 2006 with a small group of long time LGBT South Bay residents at the instigation of Mitch Doty-Cabrera. The initial executive committee included Dae Elliott and John Acosta as Co-Chairs, Marci Bair as Secretary, and Craig Knudson as Treasurer. In 2007, the committee resurrected the celebration “Gay Day in South Bay” that had been formerly organized by Marci Bair in 2003-2005.

Since its inception, this small group has grown exponentially. Our original 2007 event was a small picnic style gathering with Laura Jane as DJ attended by about 200. The 2018 South Bay Pride Art and Music Fest was attended by an estimated 12,000- 14,000 attendees throughout the day expanding to include artisans and moving to the amazing venue on the bay, Bayside Park.
