What was once a staple deli in the Edgewater neighborhood, this storefront sat untouched for three years before Jackalope began occupying, renovating and using the space to rehearse their plays, becoming the first arts organization and event space in a now blossoming district. Jackalope has been committed to fostering an artistic and cultural community within the Thorndale corridor in Edgewater.

The Frontier is located at 1106 W. Thorndale, just steps away from the Thorndale Red Line Station and from Jackalopeā€™s primary performance venue in Broadway Armory Park. A vibrant and immediate space, there is no lobby that separates you from the street to the stage. With a small backstage space, two renovated bathrooms and a unistrut grid, this 40-seat flexible venue is ideal for special events, rehearsals, classes, and limited-engagement performance rentals to the public. The Frontier is also available for event and party rentals, late-night shows, regular runs of comedy shows, and is available for weekly and monthly rentals of rehearsals and productions. Rehearsal rentals start as low as $12.50/hour. Interested in renting The Frontier? JTC is currently seeking proposals for plays that are Chicago premieres, with flexible technical requirements, and with a focus on intimate story telling. Selected companies will receive artistic and administrative support from Jackalope, as well as an affordable rental rate for their rehearsals and performances in The Frontier.
