Black Fashion Week USA is excited to have Jonathan Thedford join us for the Richton Park Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Kappasino Event at DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center, December 10th as they raise money for Kappa League Scholarships.

Born on the south side of Chicago but raised in small Greenville, Mississippi, the desire to pursue fashion as a career for Jonathan Thedford was inspired by a classmate who asked him to sketch her prom dress. Her inspiration was a form fitting knee length black dress worn by Dorothy Dandridge. He took her inspiration and request and immediately sketched her dream dress. When he provided her the sketch she took it to a seamstress to be made. When the garment was complete his classmate showed him the finished product and this sparked the desire within Jonathan to pursue fashion as a career.

Jonathan attended Delta State university in 2000 where he majored in computer science with a minor in fashion merchandising. He relocated in 2001 to Chicago to attend Columbia College Chicago for fashion design. In 2007, He enrolled in sewing classes at Hancock Fabric and EWS Academy, where he learned the basics of operating a sewing machine, how to read sewing patterns, virtual hand sewing techniques and how to control fabric on a sewing machine. After learning much of the basics in fashion from various institutions, in 2015 Jonathan continued his education in fashion by enrolling in the Illinois Institute of Art- Chicago to major in fashion design and the rest is history for the young talented Chicago based designer.

Fast forward today and Jonathan’s career pursuit in fashion is in full effect. He is currently working to expand his brand and follow in the footsteps of the many great designer’s that he has admired and worked with over the years including the legendary Chicago bridal designer Bryan K Osburn.

Jonathan Thedford will rip the runway with his latest fashions! Come check out him out while supporting a great cause!

We are delighted to work with the talented Stephane St. Jaymes at the Richton Park Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Kappasino Event at DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center, December 10th as they raise money for Kappa League Scholarships.

Born to Nigerian parents in London, fashion was forefront and very influential in Stephan St. Jaymes’s upbringing. He grew up watching his mother and aunties sewing; and from a young age was fascinated by old Hollywood movies. He attended London College of Fashion and from there he went on to work for many well known British designers and pop stars who influenced both his style and skill set. Upon moving to Chicago; He quietly worked his way to starting a label and showcasing his talents which includes non tailored separates and beautiful evening and after 6 attire.

A firm believer in style over trendy fashion and that his customers should wear clothes and not the clothes wear them. His collection of pieces are designed to fit into existing wardrobe and cause head turning attention. His garments reflect his love of detail, exuberance, fabric, and corseted evening gowns.

“I like to make beautiful clothes that stand the test of time and are well constructed. My clothes are elegant and stylish pieces that my clients can add to their wardrobe. I believe the inside of a garment and the foundations are equally as important as the outer shell.“ Stephan St. Jaymes

Come check out Stephan St. Jaymes head turning designs while supporting a great cause!
