The SBAC and coalition have been fighting to streamline Chicago's sign permitting process to make it easier for small businesses to announce they’re open for business. An amendment to the sign ordinance was heard in committee yesterday and passed unanimously. A full City Council vote is expected at next week's Council meeting. The passage of this amendment, along with changes to the administrative process, will reduce the time it takes to obtain a sign permit by 50-80% or up to 75 days.

The ordinance will ease the burden and reduce the time it takes to obtain sign permits for the majority of Chicago small businesses. As small businesses face many challenges, this is a positive step forward in supporting our local job creators!
