Monday Night Live (MNL) was an impromptu musical showcase, with an "open mic" format, produced by Chicago cabaret veteran Denise McGowan Tracy and co-hosted by McGowan Tracy and Beckie Menzie and performed at Petterino's from September, 2007 until its Covid 19 forced closing in March of 2020 and the subsequent sale of the restaurant to new owners. Guests enjoyed a great musical experience while en

joying dinner and cocktails in an upscale downtown location. MNL welcomed over 700 singers to its stage from September 2007 until March of 2020. Guests included casts from touring productions including Jersey Boys, Wicked and My Fair Lady, cast members from productions at local venues including The Lyric Opera, Porchlight Music Theater and more as well as many of Chicago's highest-profile professional performers from the cabaret, musical theater and jazz communities and talented amateurs. Unique in its dinner-theater format, Monday Night Live was THE place to be on Mondays. Thank you to every singer who graced our stage and to every audience member who cheered us on for over 600 performances. Denise and Beckie are grateful to you and to the owners and management of Petterino's/Lettuce Entertain You who allowed us to bring our show to their venue each Monday night.

Our Story

Monday Night Live at Petterino's is an impromptu musical showcase, a variation on the "open mic" format, co-hosted by Chicago cabaret veterans Denise McGowan Tracy and Beckie Menzie. Singers - here are some guidelines to help you help us create a great show for our audience. Singers should arrive no later than 7:15 and sign up with Denise. We do our best to get all singers who express an interest in singing onto the stage, time permitting. Singers are NOT brought up to the stage in the order they sign up but as coordinated by Denise as the evening progresses.

Please come prepared with sheet music in YOUR key for both an uptempo and ballad selection. Ballads are great - sure - but a night of ballads takes away the spirit of fun that is MNL. Songs should be 3 minutes and appropriate for an all ages crowd.

Keep your intro comments short and sweet. If you have a show to promote,- let Denise know - she can help. Guest information: Guests enjoy a great musical experience while enjoying dinner and cocktails in this upscale downtown location. Now in its 11th anniversary season, MNL has welcomed over 700 singers to its stage since its opening in September 2007. Guests have included casts from The Lyric Opera Production of “West Side Story”, touring productions including, “Hamilton”, “Dear Evan Hansen”, “Jersey Boys”, “Wicked”. We have welcomed casts from numerous Chicago theater companies including Porchlight Music Theater, Kokandy Productions, Greenhouse Theater, Victory Gardens Theater and more. On a weekly basis youl can count on seeing some of Chicago's highest-profile performers from the cabaret, musical theater and jazz communities. Unique in its dinner-theater format, Monday Night Live has become THE place to be on Mondays in downtown Chicago for nearly 12 years.There is no cover charge and a $19.95 food and beverage minimum.
