PLAYOFF FORMAT & POINT SYSTEM

OPEN DIVISION• Top 1 Seed receives a bye and automatically advances to the Final 4 (Semifinals).

6FTU DIVISION• Top 1 Seed receives a bye and automatically advances to the Final 4 (Semifinals).

32UP DIVISION• Top 2 Seeds receive a bye and automatically advance to the Final 4 (Semifinals).

40UP DIVISION• Top 2 Seeds receive a bye and automatically advance to the Final 4 (Semifinals).

16U DIVISIONSemifinal Matchups:• #1 Seed vs #4 Seed• #2 Seed vs #3 Seed

SUNDAY CROSSOVER PLAYOFF FORMAT

Teams will be seeded based on Saturday results and placed into Bracket A and Bracket B.

Crossover Matchups:• Bracket A #1 vs Bracket B #2• Bracket B #1 vs Bracket A #2

Winners advance to the Championship Game.

PURPOSE OF THE CROSSOVER PLAYOFF FORMAT

The crossover playoff format is designed to reduce the likelihood of teams facing the same opponents they already played during pool play or seeding games. By crossing over Bracket A and Bracket B, teams compete against different opponents in the playoffs, creating a more competitive, balanced, and exciting championship round while giving teams an opportunity to face new competition.

This format helps avoid repeat matchups whenever possible and ensures a fair playoff experience for all participating teams.

POINT SYSTEM (SEEDING)

• Win = 2 Points• Loss = 1 Point• Forfeit = 0 Points

TIEBREAKER SYSTEM

If two or more teams finish with the same number of points, the following tiebreakers will be used in order:

Point Differential

Points Allowed (Fewest)

Points Scored (Most)

Coin Toss (Tournament Committee Decision)

⚠️ All teams must play at least one (1) game on Saturday to remain eligible for Sunday playoffs unless an exception is approved by the Tournament Committee.

⚠️ Playoff seeding will be determined based on the Point System and Tiebreaker System listed above.

⚠️ Tournament Committee reserves the right to adjust playoff brackets and schedules if necessary due to team withdrawals, forfeits, scheduling conflicts, or unforeseen circumstance

OFFICIAL RULES & REGULATIONS

GAME FORMAT
• Two (2) 20-minute halves
• Running clock format
• Clock stops during the final two (2) minutes of the 2nd half
• If a team leads by fifteen (15) points or more during the final two (2) minutes, the clock will
continue to run
• Referees may stop the clock when necessary
• Halftime: Two (2) minutes

TIMEOUTS
• Two (2) timeouts per half
• Four (4) total timeouts per game
• Each timeout is forty-five (45) seconds
• One (1) timeout is permitted during overtime
• Timeouts do not carry over into overtime
• No timeout advancement is allowed during overtime
• During the 2nd half only, a team may advance the ball to half court on its final timeout

OVERTIME
1st Overtime – 2 Minutes
2nd Overtime – 1 Minute
3rd Overtime – Sudden Death
• In Sudden Death, the first team to score wins

GAME START & FORFEITS
• A minimum of four (4) players is required to start a game
• Teams are granted a three (3) minute grace period
• Failure to meet the minimum player requirement will result in a forfeit
• Forfeit score: Opposing team will be awarded a 10-point victory

PLAYER ELIGIBILITY
• Players must participate in at least one (1) Saturday seeding game to be eligible for Sunday
playoff games
• One (1) player exemption per team may be requested if the tournament committee is notified in
advance
• Exemptions must be reasonable and are not guaranteed approval

PROTESTS
• Only the Team Captain, Head Coach, or Team Manager may file a protest.
• Protest Fee: $80 per player being protested.
• Valid protests will receive a full refund.
• Supporting documentation or evidence must be provided.
• Any player being protested for age, height, heritage, identity, or eligibility must be prepared to
provide valid documentation upon request by the Tournament Committee.
• Failure to provide sufficient proof of eligibility may result in disqualification from the tournament.
• Tournament Committee decisions are final.

TEAM FOULS
• 7th Team Foul = Two (2) Free Throws
• 10th Team Foul and Above = Two (2) Free Throws
• No One-and-One Rule
• A player who accumulates five (5) personal fouls is automatically ejected from the game.

FREE THROW RULE
• Players have eight (8) seconds to attempt a free throw once the ball is at their disposal.
• Delaying tactics during free throws may result in a warning and/or penalty at the referee's
discretion if deemed intentional.

TECHNICAL FOULS
• Two (2) Free Throws
• Possession awarded to the opposing team
MULTIPLE TECHNICAL FOULS
• If a team receives three (3) technical fouls during the same dead-ball sequence or possession, the
opposing team will be awarded six (6) free throws plus possession of the ball.

ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY
• Fighting
• Threats
• Harassment
• Unsportsmanlike Conduct
• Abuse toward Officials, Staff, Players, or Spectators
• Intentional physical contact causing injury or attempting to cause injury
• Deliberate intimidation, bullying, or intentional emotional distress
Violators may be ejected and removed from the tournament without refund.
Any participant who intentionally causes physical injury or engages in conduct that creates
intentional emotional distress may face additional disciplinary action, including suspension or
permanent ban from future events.
Tournament authorities reserve the right to contact law enforcement when necessary.

GAME INFORMATION
• No Shot Clock
• Tournament Committee decisions are final
• All participants are expected to respect Players, Officials, Staff, and Spectators

16U DIVISION RULE
• An eight (8) second backcourt violation rule will be enforced in the 16U Division.
• Teams must advance the ball across the half-court line within eight (8) seconds after gaining
possession in the backcourt.
• The purpose of this rule is to promote a higher level of competition, improve player development,
and prepare youth athletes for advanced levels of basketball.

RULE EXCEPTIONS
Only Tournament Commissioners Chris Cardenas and Sid Garcia have the authority to approve
any exceptions, modifications, or interpretations of these rules.
