Meet , a first-time F^3 Lake Half Marathon runner!
She said YES to running the F3 Lake Half Marathon after years of encouragement from a friend who knew how much running meant to her. After spending a decade in NYC and completing the Brooklyn Half multiple times, she was ready for something different that would truly challenge her. What better than a winter half marathon in a new city in sub-zero temperatures! The perfect way to start 2026 with purpose.
Her story didn’t start with running. She grew up swimming and only discovered her passion for running after moving from Portugal to the U.S. 15 years ago. Since then, running has become so much more than exercise. It’s how she connects to where she lives, finds belonging, and stays grounded in each moment.
Her training journey has been filled with everything: healing, growth, resilience, patience, frustration, and joy. Through it all, running has given her structure, focus, and a deeper sense of direction.
And how did she feel about race day? Pure magic. ✨
Irina said from the moment she stepped outside on race day and saw a beautiful “Narnia,” she couldn’t stop smiling. Seeing people supporting the runners along the way melted her heart and gave her so much strength.
Her advice? Just do it. The most intimidating challenges often lead to the most meaningful moments 💙
