June storyteller Michelle Young is a Chicago-based writer, storyteller, and comedian. While she is not a Moth winner, she has tied for 1st at the Moth. That counts for something, right? She co-produces Funnies @ The Friendly, a monthly variety show packed with sketches, songs, and old-school TV chaos in the spirit of Carol Burnett and Sonny & Cher at Friendly's in Berwyn. Earlier this year, she debuted her first solo show, DYKE*OTOMY — stay tuned for future dates! You can find Michelle online at michelledyoung.com. They claim two q***r young adult children as well as their son’s boyfriend all living in the same house. He recently turned fifty and hopes to spend the next phase of his life achieving bi-con status! Bi’s love their puns. June storyteller Emma Turner-Trujillo is an Assistant Registrar for the Anthropology Collections at the Field Museum. She ensures that collections from Latin America and the Pacific are received, recorded, and stored according to best practices by facilitating their packing, shipping, documentation, and processing. Her research interests include: the acquisition histories of pre-Columbian collections in the United States, the co-opting of Mexica iconography in Mexico’s World Fairs by the Porfirian government, and indigenous Nahuatl codices. She is also an adjunct professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she has taught courses in Museum Studies. Hear Emma's story Tuesday, June 2, at OUTspoken at Sidetrack. June storyteller Gearah Goldstein is an author and storyteller whose work in the LGBTQ+ space has reached millions. She has been featured on the TODAY show, Rolling Stone, NPR, and (back when they still mattered) the rest of the legacy media. After a year of solo travel across the country in her little blue RV, she’s back in Chicago. This is her fifth time on the Outspoken stage. June storyteller Christopher Robinson is an instructor of Religious Studies at DePaul University and has taught courses on Religion and Popular Culture, Debates About God, and the American Jesus. Christopher was raised along the Gulf Coast of Texas, southeast of Houston. He studied in Missouri, New Orleans, Denver, Washington, D.C., Chicago, and Belgium, earning a variety of degrees on a variety of levels in a variety of disciplines, including existential philosophy, radio and television communications, and postmodern theology. In addition to his teaching profession, Christopher has also served as a Roman Catholic priest, currently working at St. Vincent de Paul Parish on Webster and Our Lady of Mount Carmel on Belmont. May storyteller Jamiece Adams is a writer, educator, and organizer. They received their MFA in creative writing from Columbia College Chicago. She is a 2019 Lambda Literary fellow. Their written work has been published in Rabbit: Nonfiction Poetry Journal, The Lambda Literary Anthology of Emerging LGBTQ+ Writers, Hypertext Magazine, and elsewhere. She received an award from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association and was nominated for an Illinois Arts Council Award. She is the co-founder and co-editor of Disco Kitchen Magazine, whose third issue was just published online last month. Hear Jamiece's story Tuesday, May 5, at OUTspoken at Sidetrack.
