The official page for the Cheshire Cheese Festival in Cheshire, MA! When Jefferson won the Presidential election, the town of Cheshire searched for a way to show their support and pay tribute to their new President. Since Cheshire specialized in dairy farming and making cheese, they decided to send a gift to the President of a Cheshire Cheese, using
curds from every farmer in town. The resulting M

ammoth Cheese was 4 feet in diameter, 18 inches thick and weighed 1,235 pounds (560 kg). It was moved on a sled drawn by six horses when it was shipped off to Washington, D.C., where it drew a personal letter of thanks from President Jefferson. One of the two monuments in Cheshire commemorates the cheese; the other memorializes the founders of the town. The first ever Cheshire Cheese Fest will take place on July 29, 2017, at the grounds of Cheshire Elementary School. This event will help in promoting our beautiful town of Cheshire, with its Mammoth Cheese history, and raise funds for future town events.
