“Theatrics with a purpose.” (Matthew 18)

StoneBridge Drama is the theatre program at StoneBridge School, a private Christian school in Chesapeake, VA. The program offers performing arts training and opportunities to students, and encourages students to discover and explore the joy of sharing stories through the art forms of theatre and film. While theatre and performing opportunities arise for students in every grade at StoneBridge, Ston

eBridge Drama is an audition-based program specifically for students in grades 9-12, with occasional opportunities for younger grades, pending on the show. StoneBridge Drama produces at least two major productions every year: a film festival of student-produced films in January and a major musical in March. They also host an annual Princess Tea Party for young girls and their moms, and a series of summer camps.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026 and to these wonderful (brand new!) StoneBridge School alumni!

These graduates all were a part of the StoneBridge School Drama family — from telling stories on stage, to creating films… from being the technical expertise behind-the-scenes, to singing, dancing, and acting on stage… from stage management to student-directing…

Thank you for the journey. Thank you for the memories. Thank you for being a part of the wonderful legacy that wouldn’t exist without you and so many who have gone before you. We’re grateful for our adventures together and can’t wait to see the next adventure God has in store for you!

We are very excited to announce StoneBridge School Drama’s 2026-2027 Season!

Our first big event in October 2026 is our annual tradition, the Princess Tea Party! Little princesses and their parents are invited to join us for this special event. The high school girls love getting to spend time with our youngest friends at this event and the event helps raise funds for all these exciting opportunities next year.

Next in November 2026 is our Student-Directed Fall Show, “Anne of Green Gables!” We are very excited for the wonderful and imaginative “Anne with an E” to take the stage…. And in our case it’s not just Anne with one E, but Anne with FOUR Es, because our student-directors all have names that begin with E: Emmie, Emmy, Emily, and Elena! (Also pictured are our awesome stage managers, Michael and Addie!)

In December 2026 we’ll have our traditional Christmas Cabaret as a charity fundraiser for some awesome local outreaches.

Then in January 2027 our annual Student Film Festival is back with student filmmakers like Daniel, Michael, Jayden, and more!

And finally, in March 2027 we’re going under the sea with a very special 10th anniversary performance of “The Little Mermaid!” This will be our first true repeat show and we are so excited to bring this story to life again. This isn’t merely a fun and challenging show and beautiful story to tell… this is an opportunity to honor all of the amazing alumni who have poured into theatre and film opportunities at StoneBridge over the last decade and beyond to bring us to where we are today!

We can’t wait to see you next year!

Rising 6th-12th grade StoneBridge students and families, please be on the lookout for season audition info to be released in the summer! ALL auditions will take place at the end of summer/beginning of the school year.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the moms, grandmothers, motherly figures, and Wendy Darlings out there!

This year we’ve enjoyed sharing stories featuring lovely mother-figures. But for every story we tell and every special event, there are many, many more moms behind the scenes… fixing hair, making costumes, helping the sets look amazing, running the box office, and so much more. Thank you moms! The opportunities we get to enjoy with StoneBridge School Drama take an incredible community—and YOU are such a valuable part of the heart behind what we get to do together!

“Why, Peter, a mother’s someone who loves and cares for you and tells you stories.” -Wendy

“She was mama to me. She was mama to all of us.” -Anya

Jack Kelly came back to help with strike after the show… how appropriate😂

So the “Anastasia” folks showed him a little love! For those who don’t know the inside joke, “strike” is said a lot in the musical, “Newsies.” It’s also written on a chalkboard by Jack Kelly (Victor) in one of the big production numbers. But in one of the performances last spring, things didn’t quite work out and only “STRIK” was written…and it stuck.

“Anastasia” was almost two months ago (and Newsies” was over a year ago!) but these are the memories that last in our hearts. This is a silly video but it’s also a reminder of the amazing legacy of our alumni and the family heart of our theatre community at StoneBridge. Quite a few wonderful alumni returned to support all of the young performers in “Anastasia” and a few even stayed after to help with strike!

Our Summer Musical Theatre Camp is always one of our favorite parts of summer! This summer will be our 15th year of camp. It's our chance to connect and build community around something we love - telling stories through the art of musical theatre! And we love that our camp also pushes us creatively and as performers to perform in an intimate, black box theater space. Registration and the show announcement for this summer are coming soon!

Last summer was an absolute blast as we sang and danced our way through the camp with "Singin' in the Rain, Jr." Here's a clip of the title song performed by Kai, Emmy, Evelyn, Emmie, Ayden, Jonathan, and Juneau. Our own senior, Evelyn, choreographed this and many other production numbers in the show!
