🍅 Fair Friday thought: Could one of the jars you're putting up this fall be wearing a ribbon next summer?

It’s canning and preserving season! From tomatoes and pickles to salsa, jams, jellies and more, kitchens across Saginaw County are busy putting up this year’s harvest.

As you fill those jars, keep the 2027 Saginaw County Fair in mind. What you're making today could inspire one of next year's Fair entries!

And if you've never exhibited before, don't let all those ribbons intimidate you — there's always a first time to enter. ❤️ Sign up here to get more information! https://forms.gle/zwXPA17rFMCJc4bi8

🥒🍅 What are you canning or preserving this year? Tell us in the comments!

Maybe we'll see one of your jars in the Exhibit Hall next summer. 😉

The Saginaw County Fair family is saddened by the passing of our longtime volunteer and friend, Keith Valentine. ❤️

Keith was an integral part of the Saginaw County Fair for more than 25 years, volunteering with us since the Fair moved to Chesaning in 2001. His dedication extended beyond Fair Week through his service to the Saginaw County Agricultural Society, and he became a familiar and beloved face within both the Fair and the Chesaning community.

For so many in our community, Keith was one of those special people who had a way of making you feel remembered. He knew your name, greeted you when he saw you, and for many Fair families, seeing Keith each year was simply part of being at the Saginaw County Fair.

Year after year, Keith gave his time not only to the Fair, but to the community he cared so much about.

Last October, we had the privilege of celebrating Keith when he received the 2025 Chesaning Community Service Award, recognizing his service, dedication, and unwavering love for the community. Looking back, we're especially grateful to have this photo from that evening — Keith surrounded by friends and proudly wearing his Saginaw County Fair shirt.

The Fair is built on people like Keith — people who show up, lend a hand, welcome others, and over the years become part of the traditions and memories that make this place so special.

We are incredibly grateful for the many years Keith shared with the Saginaw County Fair, the Saginaw County Agricultural Society, and our community. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.

His familiar face, warm greeting, and many years of service will certainly be missed. ❤️

We invite our Fair family to join us in remembering Keith and to read his obituary here: https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/name/keith-valentine-obituary?id=62419944

From Saginaw County Homemaker of the Year… to Michigan Homemaker of the Year! 🏆❤️

We are incredibly excited to congratulate Rebecca Yager, our 2025 Saginaw County Fair Homemaker of the Year, on being named the 2026 Michigan Homemaker of the Year!

Rebecca earned the opportunity to represent the Saginaw County Fair at the state level after winning our county title last year. At the Michigan competition, she shared not only her talents, but the many ways she gives back to her community.

Rebecca serves as head coach for White Pine Middle School robotics, mentors Heritage High School robotics, volunteers weekly in the kitchen at the City Rescue Mission, and is a foster care advocate.

And apparently she had a little more winning to do while she was at the Michigan State Fair! 🍪 Rebecca also earned 2nd place in the Michigan Sugar Cookie Baking Contest with her piña colada cookies!

We love seeing one of our Saginaw County Fair exhibitors go on to represent our Fair and community at the state level — and bring the Michigan Homemaker of the Year title home to Saginaw County.

Congratulations, Rebecca! We are so proud to have you representing the Saginaw County Fair and the many talents, skills and spirit of service found right here in our community. ❤️

Please help us congratulate Rebecca in the comments! 👏

It’s been ONE MONTH since the 2026 Saginaw County Fair… and we have just one question:

Is everyone finally caught up on sleep?! 😂💤

Fair week means early mornings, late nights, full barns, busy exhibit buildings, shows, projects, friends, food and a whole lot of memories.

And sometimes… you just have to nap wherever you can find a spot. 😴

Apparently that rule applies to everyone — exhibitors, volunteers, Fair kids AND the animals. 🐷🦆🐄

We found quite a few Fair week naps hiding in our camera rolls, but we have a feeling we didn't catch them all!

📸 Did you catch someone snoozing at the Fair this year? Drop your photo in the comments! 👇

Because sometimes the best Fair memories happen when somebody isn't even awake for them. ❤️

📸 FAIR FRIDAY: Your next Fair entry might already be on your camera roll.

Long weekends have a way of giving us moments worth capturing — a quiet morning at the lake, a beautiful sunset, a family adventure, an interesting animal, or something that simply catches your eye.

And sometimes, those everyday photos turn into something worth entering at the Fair.

These photographs are a great reminder that you don't have to be a professional photographer to exhibit your work at the Saginaw County Fair. Photography is just one of the many Still Exhibit departments where people of different ages and experience levels can participate.

So while you're enjoying Labor Day weekend, take the picture. 📷

That view from the campsite.
The sunset over the water.
The kids fishing off the dock.
The flowers in your backyard.
The funny expression on your pet's face.

You just might be looking at a future 2027 Saginaw County Fair entry! 🎡

Interested in learning more about exhibiting at next year's Fair? Fill out our Exhibitor Interest Form and we'll help you learn how to get started:

And remember — Fair Friday isn't just for Fair week. We'll be sharing ideas throughout the year to help inspire your 2027 entries.

👕 Spotted at the Fair: Red, White & Blue Tie-Dye!

One thing was pretty easy to spot around the fairgrounds this year… our 2026 Saginaw County Fair shirts! ❤️🤍💙

From volunteers and superintendents to entire Fair families, we loved seeing this year's red, white and blue tie-dye popping up all over the grounds during Fair week.

But we know these aren't the only pictures out there!

📸 Did you capture a photo of your family, friends or favorite Fair volunteer wearing this year's Fair shirt?

Drop it in the comments! 👇 We would love to see just how many of our 2026 Fair shirts we can spot.

Because behind every Fair shirt is someone who helped make memories, carried on a tradition, lent a hand—or simply loves the Saginaw County Fair. 🎡

And if your whole family matched this year, we definitely want to see it! ❤️🤍💙

🧵 250 Years of America — Stitched One Square at a Time!

One of the special ways we celebrated America’s 250th anniversary at the 2026 Saginaw County Fair was through our People’s Choice Quilt Square Contest!

This contest was open to everyone — not just Fair exhibitors — and we loved seeing the creativity that came through in this year’s patriotic designs. Fairgoers had the chance to view the entries throughout the week and cast their votes for their favorites.

Congratulations to our 2026 People’s Choice winners (photos are in order of winners listed below)! ❤️🤍💙

⭐ 5th Place — #6 Linda Schluchter

⭐ 6th Place — #68 Amanda Hecht

👏 A very special thank you to Bonnie's Sewing Center, Lady Jane’s, Creative Passions, Miles of Stitches and Ideal Quilting for generously donating this year’s prizes. Community partners like these help us offer fun opportunities for people to get involved with the Fair — and we are grateful for their support!

And quilters... start thinking about next year. 🧵

The People’s Choice Quilt Square Contest will return for the 2027 Saginaw County Fair, and next year’s theme will be:

🎡 “FAIR!” 🎡

🎡 Interested in creating a quilt square for the 2027 Fair?
Send us a message or contact the Fair office for more information. The theme will be “FAIR!” — so start dreaming up your design!

What does fair mean to you? The midway? Livestock? Blue ribbons? Fair food? Tractors? Generations of family traditions?

We can’t wait to see what you create.

Thank you to everyone who entered, everyone who voted, and everyone who helped make this new Fair tradition part of our 2026 celebration! ❤️

🐾 Happy National Dog Day from the Saginaw County Fair! 🐾

Today we're celebrating some very special members of our fair family — the dogs of the Saginaw County Fair Dog Department! ❤️

From agility and obedience to rally and showmanship, our exhibitors and their dogs put teamwork, training and plenty of practice on display each year. Whether they're sailing over a jump, navigating an obstacle, stepping into the show ring or simply taking a well-earned break together, there's something pretty special about the bond between a dog and their person.

And here's something you may not know:

The Dog Department would love to welcome new participants!

If you have a dog at home and have ever wondered what it might be like to train, show or compete together, this could be a great way to become part of the Saginaw County Fair. Opportunities are available through the Dog Club as well as Open Class, so you don't have to already be an experienced exhibitor to start exploring what's possible.

Fair isn't just about what happens during one week in August. It's about learning new skills, working toward a goal, meeting people who share your interests — and, in this department, doing it all alongside your four-legged best friend. 🐶

Interested in getting involved with the Dog Department for the 2027 Saginaw County Fair? Send us a message and we'll help connect you with the right people to learn more.

And because it IS National Dog Day, we want to see yours! 🐕👇 Drop a photo of your dog in the comments and tell us their name!

📸 Most photos featured in this post were captured by our high school Social Media Team Intern, Korbin. Great job catching our Dog Department in action!

The Fair may only last five days, but the moments made here last much longer. ❤️

From midway laughs and friendly competition to creativity, traditions, friendships and time spent together, there were so many moments happening across the Saginaw County Fairgrounds this year.

Some were big. Some were simple. And some were the little in-between moments that make Fair week so special.

We captured far more than we could possibly share while the Fair was happening — so we're not done yet. Over the next several weeks, we'll be looking back at more of the people, animals, exhibitors, volunteers and memories that made the 2026 Saginaw County Fair one to remember.

See someone you know? Tag them! 👇

And tell us — what's one moment from this year's Fair you don't want to forget?
