Grizzly Mountain Ride

Grizzly Mountain Ride The Grizzly Mtn Ride is held every spring in Central Oregon between Madras and Prineville. Max & Darlene Merlich and Sharalyn Hay manage the Grizzly Mtn Ride.

Distances of 25, 50, and 75 miles are being offered, as well as a trail ride. A fantastic ride camp on private property gives way to perfect trails for spring riding.

WOW!!! What a great Ride and turn out. Now that I have had a chance to get home shower and feel half human. I just wanted to jump on here and tell everyone thank you!!!

First off thank you to Carol. I would not have picked up this ride or be able to do the M&A we do together without her. I absolutely love working with her and we work great together! I very much enjoy putting on rides with her.

A big thank you to Suzane and family for letting us hold ride camp there still.

Then there is LuAnn our secretary who definitely keeps Carol and I both sane, we would not be able do it without her. Also for her teaching Cindi and for Cindi and all the work previous to the Ride before they switched and willing to step up and learn to be secretary.

ALL of our wonderful volunteers, some NEW some that have been around a long time it was great seeing and meeting all of you. These events could not be put on without all of you. Greatly appreciated. And of course BIG thank you to Becky for organizing all of it you are amazing.

Another big thank you to Darlene, Siri, and Sharalyn that helped not only mark but unmarked Trail, which was a HUGE help!

A very big thank you to Max for doing all of the waters even while riding. He got all water set up in camp and out on trail AND taken down. Not only that he brought out his stuff and the ambulance trailer (thankfully we didn’t need), but Max is a crucial part to putting these on and has helped with so much at both rides.

Always wanna put a big thank you out to our Vets, Mike and Shannon and Mike’s associate Jace. They were and always are great to work with.

Thank you Jala and Andrea for your amazing pictures and always willing to help with anything! Also thank you for going and opening all those gates for our 75 miler!!! You guys rock!!

Thank you to everyone that showed up and rode. I know gas prices are insane and it makes it hard but appreciate everyone for showing up to ride.

I’m sure I am missing people. I just want everybody to know Carol and I appreciate each and everyone of you and EVERTHING that you guys all do. Would not happen without you guys.

THANK YOU!!!!

There's still time to sign up to have your horse's blood drawn at the Grizzly Mtn Ride.
Camilla, the PNER Blood Machine, will be there, ready for action
Contact Jala Neufeld to get your pony on the list!

Camilla, the PNER blood machine, is made available to riders at several NW regional rides. Camilla is an invaluable tool should your horse experience a mystery issue during the course of a ride.  This competition tool helps a rider to learn what's "normal" for their horse, and catch when something ...

FROM OUR AMAZING VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR BECKY

Hey there volunteers ! I am sending this to those who have signed up already as well as those who might still be available. So if you have already responded to me, no need to do so again. (And I'm using my master list of volunteers--so you may see this message again even though you have already told me you can't make it--sorry to bother--I just don't want to drop you off my big list!)

As you know, Grizzly is this weekend! I'm looking forward to seeing you guys at the ride, either riding or volunteering!

I have heard from many of you who have signed up to volunteer, and I have heard from many of you who can't make it for a variety of reasons (not the least is fuel cost--gads!). Anyway, we understand other obligations and complications. But we also hope that if you can get there to either ride or volunteer, that you do so. We would simply love to have your help and would love to see you. And if you have friends/neighbors/family that you can coerce into volunteering, bring them, too! We are likely going to need gate tenders this year, so likely more people needed.

The sign up jotform is at https://grizzlymtnride.com/volunteer-jot-form/ If you are volunteering and can pop in and complete that form, it would be helpful for ride management.

I'm reminding everyone that weather can be bizarro at Grizzly--prepare for all variations. And ride management plans to have snacks for the volunteers but if you want real food bring it. I don't think there will be a food truck there this year.

If you have questions, please call me at 503 810 7203. Happy to answer questions and make whatever arrangements I can for you.

I'm not bringing a horse this time, so I think I'm going to scream over on Saturday morning in my little car and see you there about 7:30 AM or so. That's the current plan anyway. So for all of those who arrive before me, Jennifer Butler and Carol Giles are the ride managers--and they can direct you to whatever task is needed.

Thanks again.

Becky
