YOU HAVEN’T RIDDEN DIRTY SHEETS LIKE THIS BEFORE.

We hear it a lot:

“We can ride Dirty Sheets whenever.”

Sure.

But we can pretty much guarantee you haven’t ridden it like this.

Yesterday we went out and toured McIntosh Reserve Park by four wheels instead of two, and this section is shaping up to be one of the highlights of the 100-mile route.

Right now, it’s landing around mile 55–63 of the Dirty Sheets 100, and thanks to our friends at Carroll County Parks, we’re working in a killer mix of singletrack, Jeep trail, river views and terrain that is going to make this course feel very different from anything we’ve done before.

It’s beautiful.
It’s punchy.
It’s going to be memorable.
And yes, it is absolutely still Dirty Sheets.

We’ll have more once we get back out there on two wheels, but for now, enjoy the preview.

Then register.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Dirty Sheets Gravel Cycling Weekend is getting closer, and we could use a few more good humans to help make the weekend happen.

This is a full weekend cycling event — riders coming in from around the country and even the globe to ride, camp, explore and enjoy Chattahoochee Hills.

LIVE IN OR AROUND CHATTAHOOCHEE HILLS / SERENBE?
We could use help all weekend with camping, registration, setup, food, rider support, bike course support and helping welcome people into the community.

LIVE NEAR NEWNAN / WHITESBURG?
We could use help out on the bike course with aid stations, crossing support, roaming support and helping riders get where they need to go.

You do not have to be a cyclist.
You just have to be helpful, friendly and willing to jump in.

Volunteers get food, drinks, our eternal gratitude and a front-row seat to the weekend.

Come be part of Dirty Sheets Gravel Cycling Weekend.

Dirty Sheets?!?
We have always recommended a shower after riding Dirty Sheets.
Problem solved. End of story.

Okay, maybe not.

We’ve had a lot of perplexed “Why the name Dirty Sheets?” questions over the years.

And honestly? Fair question.

Especially as Dirty Sheets has grown from local legend status into a full gravel weekend with riders coming in from all over.

The answer is actually pretty simple and not very gross at all.

Since the early ’80s, the rolling roads a half-hour south of Atlanta — now Chattahoochee Hills — have been known as Silk Sheets.

The Silk Sheets name was never really about perfect pavement. It was more about that feeling when everything clicks. Good legs. Great scenery. A bike that feels right. Rolling country roads that seem to flow underneath you.

The kind of route that reminds you why you ride.

That’s Silk Sheets.

But by the mid ’90s and early 2000s, some of us started looking between the silk.

The ample gravel roads connecting those familiar paved sections opened up more options, better terrain and new ways to stitch together our favorite parts.

So a bunch of roadies packed a few extra tubes, turned off the pavement and started connecting the dots.

Or, if you want the MTB version, they started extending their epic Cochran Mill Park rides to include some gravel on the muddy days.

Either story works.

Then somewhere around the mid-2010s, the name became obvious.

Dirty Sheets.

Who said it first?

That depends on which old codger you end up riding beside at the back of the group, probably still on a 26er and defending rim brakes.

Hang back long enough and you might get the story on the bike instead of waiting for the rocking-chair-and-front-porch version over a frosty beverage.

Or plan on staying long enough to hear both versions and decide which one you like better.

P.S. Not to jinx us — and plenty of past event photos will attest — we’ve had glorious sunshine all these years, with more dust than dirty. And Dusty Sheets just doesn’t have the same ring.

FOLLOW. SIGN UP. WIN FIRE.

Dirty Sheets is built around a few very important things: gravel, camping, music, good people, long weekends and sitting around firepits telling stories that get slightly less accurate as the night goes on.

So this feels about right.

Thanks to our great friends and longtime Dirty Sheets supporters at S & S Fire Pits / www.ssfirepits.com, we’re giving away a 36” Elliptical Short Fire Pit on Flanged Base to one very lucky person.

The total prize value is $985, including shipping within the continental United States.

Three chances to win. Three ways to enter:

Follow Dirty Sheets on Facebook.
Follow Dirty Sheets on Instagram.
Sign up for the Dirty Sheets email list.

Do one, get one chance.
Do all three, get three chances.

That’s simple math.

No purchase necessary. Full details, rules, shipping info and alternate free entry info are online.

Enter by October 8.

Go win fire:

Dirty Sheets is built around a lot of very scientific ingredients: gravel, camping, live music, coffee, friends, firepits, and at least one person telling a story that gets 14% less accurate every time it is repeated. COME GET DIRTY IN OCTOBER

The weekend may have camping, music and firepits.

But Saturday?
Saturday has teeth.
Sharp, pointy teeth.

Dirty Sheets brings the hard course, fast gravel, rude rollers, a $5,000 payout, custom - hand thrown - trophies and plenty of category racing for Elite, Masters, Juniors, Fat Tire and more in both the 100-mile and 62-mile versions.

This is the racer side of Dirty Sheets Gravel Weekend.
Fast.
Hard.
A little unhinged.
