On Memorial Day, we remember those who have fallen in battle by highlighting the Hall of the Battle Slain.
Valhalla is a majestic, awe-inspiring hall located in Asgard. According to myth, the hall's roof is thatched with glowing golden shields, and its walls and rafters are constructed from interlocking wooden spear shafts. The fallen warriors chosen by Odin and his Valkyries to dwell in this hall are known as the Einherjar. Their afterlife is designed as the ultimate warrior's dream. Their daytime hours are filled with training and their evenings are filled with mead and feasting. The purpose of Valhalla is twofold; it serves both as a reward to those who have given their lives in battle and as a training ground to build an elite, undying army. The warriors within train and prepare for the day they will be called to service once again. When they will ride out the doors of the golden hall and fight alongside the Norse gods as they strive to triumph in Ragnarök (the end of the world).

On this Thor’s Day we would like to share some much anticipated 2027 festival info!

The theme for next year’s event will center around the Golden Boar Gullinbursti!

Meaning "Gold Mane" or "Golden Bristles" in Old Norse, Gullinbursti is associated with Freyr. He is depicted both as Freyr’s mount and as pulling Freyr's chariot through the heavens. He illuminates the night with his golden bristles; bristles that shine so brightly they can turn night into day. As he travels past, you may see the long, lower rows of his spines where they leave streaks and flashes in the sky.

Gullinbursti was chosen to remind us that we can come through any dark times triumphant. He symbolizes a guiding light in the deepest shadows, protection as we travel through them, and the courage to persevere no matter the trials.

We’re already working hard to create another amazing event that gives long time festival family, casual attendees, and first timers learning what it’s all about fun and exciting opportunities to !

As we all know, the Scandinavians of the Viking Age had a fascination with and reverence for all celestial bodies. Because of this it seems we would be remiss in our duties if we failed to acknowledge a day dedicated to a franchise set in the stars.

Happy Star Wars Day! May the 4th be with you!

May Day or Beltane is an ancient festival, with its roots deeply embedded in Celtic mythology. It marks the transition from the darkness of Winter to the vibrant renewal of Spring. Traditions of the day may include the creation of floral wreaths, dancing around maypoles, and reveling in the beauty of blooming flowers.

The name "Beltane" is derived from the Old Irish word "Beltaine," meaning "bright fire," highlighting the central role of fire in this festive occasion. Bonfires symbolize the sun's warmth and the power of the earth awakened from Winter's slumber. People would gather around these sacred fires, engaging in rituals to bless the land, livestock, and community for a prosperous Summer ahead.

We always find it fascinating to delve into the rich tapestry of history that inspires each of us to

Happy Earth Day

Fun Fact: the first Earth Day was held on April 22, 1970 in San Francisco. A gentleman named John McConnell and then Wisconsin Senator Ga***rd Nelson asked Americans to join the demonstration. Thanks mostly to concerns over toxic drinking water and pesticides.

Happy First Day of Spring! After today, we have more light than dark, so it seems fitting to talk about Sunnudagr…

Sunnudagr carries the fire of Sól, daughter of Mundilfari, the light that moves because it must.

She does not ride in triumph. Her chariot burns its way across the sky, drawn by Árvakr, ever-early and Alsviðr, tireless and swift. The day is born from their labor, not from rest.

Behind her runs the wolf Sköll, his shadow stretched long across the skies. He is not chaos unbound but Urðr (fate) given teeth and hunger. Sól knows he follows and still, she runs.

Every dawn is an act of courage, each sunrise is defiance. She gives light not because the world is safe but because it needs her to survive.

At the world’s ending, her path will close. Fear not, for the light is not extinguished. From her passing comes renewal and a daughter will rise to carry the sun into a world that is made new.

On Sunnudagr, as we rise to face the day, we do more than welcome her warmth. We honor persistence with the will to rise with darkness close behind.

May we meet each day as Sól does, moving forward, burning bright and carrying hope. Even when the chase is never far away.

Sága is a Norse goddess associated with wisdom, prophecy, and oral history, whose name literally means "story". She dwells in the hall Sökkvabekk, where she and the god Odin daily share "cool waves" and golden cups of drink, suggesting a connection to ancient tales and wisdom. She is the keeper of what was and what might be. When we write, we pour our words into her well. When we recall history through stories, we feed the stream she keeps. We keep her spirit alive by honoring, respecting, and carrying on the unbroken lines from past to present.
