Reposted from our friends at UNCCharlotteObservatory • The Department of Physics and Optical Science, In Collaboration with the Charlotte Amateur Astronomy Club, is hosting NASA’s Mission Systems Engineer for the James Webb Space Telescope Mike Menzel. Menzel, and other invited speakers, will explain the impact optical science and the James Webb Space Telescope have had on our understanding of the world around us, from human biology to the evolution of the universe. The event will be held on Saturday, March 23rd from 5:00-7:30PM EST at the McKnight Hall in the Cone University Center. Attendance is free and open to the public, but registration is encouraged.

WHY a 🆓 Community Youth Chorus needs to exist:
▶️ Kids & teens should have the chance to learn and make art with their very own being.
▶️ No instrument rentals. They learn to use their own voice for anywhere they go, throughout their lives.
▶️ Local youth have reported that schools are closing choruses for “lack of interest", but when funding gets cut, things can’t run.
▶️ Music is one of the rare avenues to learning connection, how to feel & express, and to create art that moves. We need people growing up in spaces that promote these things. There are not enough.
▶️ Music education = inspiration, hope, creativity, and life-long impacts for generations to come. An investment in the future and the cultural enrichment of our neighbors.
