Did you know that while global military sports traditions were first planting their roots in the early 1900s, Charlotte Pipe and Foundry was already hard at work building Charlotte’s industrial backbone? Founded in 1901, Charlotte Pipe has spent five generations embodying the values of hard work, patriotism, and unshakeable integrity.

Fast forward to today, and that legacy is helping fuel the road to the 2027 Military World Games! We are honored to partner with a homegrown institution that understands what it means to build a lasting legacy.

Today, we pause to honor, remember, and reflect on the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their legacy of courage, selflessness, and dedication will never be forgotten. 🇺🇸

Did you know? The foundational spirit of the Military World Games is deeply connected to this legacy of service - dating back to a historic post-WWI vision by U.S. General John J. Pershing in 1919.

Halfway there and the momentum is real. 🌍✨

Fresh off the CISM General Assembly and Congress in Monaco, our team has processed the latest registration data and the numbers look incredible: 71 nations have officially submitted their preliminary registrations for the 2027 Military World Games right here in the Carolinas!

That represents exactly half of the 142 CISM member nations and we are just getting started.

Even more exciting? Those 71 nations already bring our combined projected total to nearly 11,000 elite military athletes and official delegates descending on our region.

The world is coming to the Carolinas. 🏅✈️ Stay tuned as the map keeps growing!

Yesterday, the MWG27 team took the stage at the 81st CISM General Assembly in Monaco! 🇲🇨

We shared our latest progress and gave the member nations a first-hand look at what’s in store for the 2027 Military World Games in the Carolinas.

It was an honor to present alongside our partners at , as we reinforce our commitment to global participation and international access.

The countdown to 2027 is on, and the world is ready! 🌎🏅

A royal welcome in Monaco!

The MWG27 team joined fellow CISM delegates today for an incredible reception with Prince Albert II at the Prince’s Palace. We are here for the 81st CISM General Assembly, representing the Carolinas and the United States on the global stage. 🇺🇸

With 142 nations gathered in one place, we’ve had the opportunity to share our progress and the “Mission Readiness” of our 2027 venues. The energy is electric, and the international support for the 2027 Games is stronger than ever.

Last week, the MWG27 LOC had the honor of welcoming The International Military Sports Council (CISM) to the Carolinas. 🤝

During the week-long visit, 29 CISM representatives from 15 countries, including President Colonel Nilton Gomes Rolim Filho and Secretary General Navy Captain Roberto Recchia, led a delegation of international sport authorities in evaluating potential venues and operational capabilities across the region.

The visits marked a huge milestone, not only because it was many’s first time to the United States, but it represents a critical transition into detailed, on-the-ground coordination to ensure the Games are ready for more than 10,000 elite military athletes to compete next summer.

Thank you to CISM for visiting the Carolinas, and exemplifying what it means to have Peace through Sport.

We’re one step closer to making history with the first Military World Games to be hosted in the U.S., but the journey is far from over. Join us as we make history in the Carolinas.

Meet the leaders behind the 2027 Military World Games.

🌎The International Military Sports Council (CISM) is the governing body of the Military World Games. Founded in 1948, CISM was built on the idea to use sport to promote peace and understanding between armed forces around the world. CISM now unites 142 member nations through a wide range of international military sporting events, including their flagship Military World Games held every 4 years.

🇺🇸The 2027 Military World Games Local Organizing Committee (MWG27 LOC) is the official body responsible for planning and delivering the 2027 Military World Games which will be held across the Carolinas – overseeing everything from operations and logistics to athlete experience and legacy.

Together, they will bring more than 10,000 athletes from the CISM Member nations to the United States for the first time to promote Peace through Sport.

MWG27 is proud to welcome its newest partner, Jetr Global Sports + Entertainment. The international strategies firm will support federal coordination for the Games, bringing in more than 10,000 military athletes from CISM member nations to compete across the Carolinas.

🏅 For over three decades the Military World Games has created global unity through sport.

In 1919, the U.S. General John J. Pershing helped lead the Inter-Allied Games after WWI, using sport as a way of healing. Inspired by General Pershing’s mission, CISM held the inaugural Games in 1995 where 93 nations participated in 17 sports programs across Rome, Italy. Coming off the tails of the 50th anniversary of WWII, the ‘95 Games signified a commitment to peace and international cooperation.

Over 30 years later, we are honored to keep this legacy alive, and bring the Games to U.S. soil for the first time ever. Uniting armed forces from around the world to foster respect, cooperation, and peace through sport.
