The WVDACH has decided to postpone the 2021 Vandalia Gathering in its traditional three-day format in favor of a special one-time afternoon concert on Saturday, May 29 from 2-4 p.m.

This decision was not made lightly and the main goal is to continue to do everything we can to keep the public and our staff as safe as possible. The concert will still honor the musical traditions of Vandalia and will be open to the public. Mask and social distancing guidelines will be in place. Both the 2020 and 2021 Vandalia Award winners will be honored at this time.

More information about the concert will be announced as it becomes available. For those not able to attend, a live stream of the event will be provided. For more information, go to https://bit.ly/2Pl4Vzt.

Today's Featured past Vandalia Award winner is from 2000!

Brooks Smith from Dunbar, Kanawha County, was an banjo player for more than 60 years. Equally comfortable with clawhammer or traditional finger-style playing, Brooks won many awards at festivals and music competitions across the state. He was a decorated Army Veteran of World War II and a retired draftsman for Union Carbide. Brooks was well-loved for his generosity with his music, particularly by the many younger musicians with whom he shared his talents.
