As we close out this year’s Black Bear Bike Festival, we want to give our sincere thanks to all of the volunteers who made the event possible. After Friday’s storm made the course unrideable and in serious doubt of even happening, several members of the Kanawha community stepped in, fired up the saws, and made it happen!
Special thanks to:
The trimming crew led by Mike Mullins; the “we got a real problem” chainsaw crew including Mike Mullins, Pat Galloway, Dennis Stottlemyer, Jodie (and sons) and the folks who thought they were pre-riding but ended up marking trail hazards; the course marshal crew of Mike Mullins, Scott Duffer, David McCormick, Dennis Stottlemyer, Rob Nottingham, Joe Sizemore, and Ray Coombe; the paved ride leaders of Rob Ammirato, Chris Nagorka and Heidi Talmage; the trail ride leaders of Keith and Bill Carney; the kid’s zone cat herders of Jonathan and Sarah Phoenix and Jack Hoblitzell, the aid station gurus Mindy and Billy Cox, registration and help desk liaison Celia Morales and last on the course, but first in our hearts, the course sweep Sam Hughart! Thank you all so very, very much!
