Our authors and illustrators bring the magic of books and connection to the festival; they’re the piece of the festival that makes this day so special! We hope you’ve taken time to check out all of their profiles by looking at our previous posts.

But there are SO many people we couldn’t do this without: our dedicated Board, the Town of New Castle, our generous sponsors and food trucks, and the many, many volunteers!

Over the next few days, we’ll be shining a spotlight on the people and partners who help bring CCBF to life!

🚨🚨 ATTENTION AUTHORS AND ILLUSTRATORS🚨🚨

The Chappaqua Children’s Book Festival has become the victim of online scammers targeting book/literary festivals & authors/illustrators. People posing as members of our board have been reaching out to authors and illustrators via an email that looks like it could be ours soliciting payment to attend the Festival. 😡

We hope it hasn’t impacted many people and are grateful to those who brought this to our attention!!! If you’ve received any suspicious communication, please let us know so we can work to get it stopped.

Red flags to watch out for:
🚩 If you receive an email that DOES NOT end in .org, it is NOT us. All communication comes from one of the organizers whose emails end with that tag (i.e. [email protected])
🚩 If you receive an email with links soliciting payment to attend the Festival (or offering you a virtual option for a fee), that is NOT us.

📌We NEVER ask authors or illustrators for payment of any kind to participate in the festival (via a link, or via Paypal, Venmo, CashApp, Zelle, etc).

Welcome to CCBF for the first time, beloved author of the Angelina Ballerina books, Katharine Holabird 🎉

Katharine Holabird is the award-winning author of the beloved Angelina Ballerina books and her new children’s book series Twinkle. Katharine grew up living in an imaginary world of fairy tales, princesses, and ballerinas. She loved to perform and dance with her three sisters, and her own children loved to do the same. She was inspired by their experiences and began writing children’s books in 1983. Since then, her Angelina Ballerina books have sold millions of copies, been translated into 20+ languages, and Angelina has become a children’s classic.

Katharine’s featured title, Twinkle🧚 is the first book in her delightful new picture book series that introduces young readers to a feisty fairy named Twinkle! Welcome to CCBF for the first time, all the way from California, award-winning author and illustrator, Salina Yoon ! 🎉

Salina Yoon is the creator of nearly 200 children’s books. While she is most known for her beloved Penguin picture book series and Kiki & Jax (co-created with Marie Kondo), all of Salina’s books are ones that inspire young readers through her heartfelt stories, inventive formats, and loveable characters. Her incredible work has earned her many accolades, including the Award for Excellence in a Picture Book, a Geisel Honor, and the Keystone to Reading Award, among others. She was even a Kohl’s Cares Featured Author!

Salina’s featured title, Kat & Mouse: You Are My Hero!, is the the third adventure in her Geisel Honor winning early reader graphic novel series! While Kat thrives on the thrill of the “big slide,” Mouse prefers keeping his paws on the ground. Through gentle social-emotional themes and sly humor, the duo navigates fears and tries new things. Welcome back to CCBF, award-winning children’s book creator, Katie Yamasaki ! 🎉

Katie Yamasaki is an award-winning children’s book creator and an internationally acclaimed muralist and teaching artist whose vibrant artwork and belief in the power of connection make her work extremely special and powerful! Katie’s books have earned many well deserved honors including being named on many “best books of the year” lists, including: Kirkus, NYPL, Publishers Weekly, Amazon, “Books for Kids”, and Bank Street College! She co-facilitates an expressive arts program at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility and is a former NYC public school teacher, faculty member at the School of Visual Arts, and teaching artist at the Center for Fiction. She lives with her family in Brooklyn.

Katie’s featured title, Ripples, is a lyrical celebration of family, community, kindness, and our connection to the natural world and each other. A young girl and her Aunty set sail on their river raft, basking in each other’s company and in the beauty of the world around them―the sun sparkling on the water, the birds soaring over the mountains, the frogs and butterflies that gather in the reeds. Along the way, they pass friends and families engaged in caring for one another―sharing food, tending wounds, celebrating birthdays, and telling stories―who ultimately join them in cleaning litter and trash from the river. With electric, eye–catching illustrations, Ripples reminds us of the value of care and the ways we can perform it―for each other, and for the world around us.
