Capitol Theatre

Capitol Theatre Historic Theatre located at 159 S Main Street Chambersburg PA, 17201 Your gift in any amount will have an impact.

Mission: "To create opportunities for the greater community to engage in and experience all facets of the arts." The Capitol Theatre has touched the lives of almost everyone who has resided in the Franklin County area. For many in the community, the Capitol is the β€œgo-to” place for quality arts and entertainment experiences. For others, it provides a creative outlet for performing on stage in play

s, ballets, and concerts or working behind the scenes. Many memories have been made over the years watching movies on the big screen, attending live shows, and listening to the mighty Moller Theatre Pipe Organ, which sounds as vibrant today as it did over 90 years ago. You can be a part of preserving the Capitol for the children of today and future generations so they too can β€œgrow up” with equally fond memories at the Capitol. Capitol Theatre Center Foundation operates independently as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization and is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees. Like most non-profit theatres throughout the country, Capitol Theatre Center experiences a financial gap between what it costs to operate the cultural arts center and the amount of money generated through ticket sales, facility rentals, and concessions. We are able to close the financial gap, in large part through grants; endowment interest income; marketing partnerships; and donations from individuals and businesses as part of the annual Capitol Forever Campaign. There are many ways an individual, family, or corporation can contribute to the Capitol Theatre Center Foundation. All gifts are greatly appreciated and may be tax-deductible depending upon the type of gift and your own personal tax situation. To discuss the possibility of making a gift, please call 717-263-0202.

We're about $5500 away from our goal for this year's campaign! 😱 We're getting so close it's giving us goosebumps! πŸ₯°

What can you do to help? Donating is always appreciated, no matter what the amount. And just a reminder... a perk to donating $100 or more to the theatre gets you pre-sale access to new season tickets starting August 3rd, two weeks before the general public! 😱

But if you can't donate, we'd appreciate if you shared this post, or tagged people who might be interested in donating in the comments! Comments and shares help out a lot! 😊

We hope you consider helping us to continue "bridging the gap" so that we can ensure the Capitol Theatre keeps going for years to come!

Donate now by calling 717-263-0202 option 1, stopping by in person at 159 S Main St (Tues-Fri, 11am-4pm), or online here: https://www.thecapitoltheatre.org/giving/bridging-the-gap/

Cash, check, credit/debit cards are all accepted! πŸ’³πŸ˜Š

For our 100th Anniversary, we of course had to include a staple to the new season! Our White Christmas Movie & Holiday Social returns December 22nd! πŸ˜„

Note that this is a Tuesday; with how the month worked out for various shows, this will be our last event before the holiday break! πŸŽ„πŸ˜Š

For those who haven't been, we screen the movie two times that day: 3pm and 6:30pm. You can join us for either screening (or both!) for just $5/person. Our 3pm screening features a sing-a-long version, while the 6:30pm screening is just the classic movie.

Tickets will be sold at doors the day of the event! The WHITE CHRISTMAS MOVIE & HOLIDAY SOCIAL will include a Social Hour in between each movie screening with festive treats, adult-themed beverages, non-alcoholic drinks, and concessions! Everyone will also have the chance to meet Santa! General concessions and drinks will also be available before the start of each screening. 😊πŸͺ🍸🍿🍫

So mark your calendars, and join us for this holiday classic on December 22nd! ❄

And while you're reading this, we'd be remiss if we didn't mention that if you DONATE $100 or more to the theatre before July 1st, you get first chance at all of our other show tickets starting August 3rd! Before the general public starts purchasing on August 17th! Head here for more info: https://www.thecapitoltheatre.org/giving/bridging-the-gap/

We're so appreciative of this new grant! 😍 However, the grant only covers approximately 25% of the overall cost of the project, which will replace the water and sewer lines running beneath the 1927 historic Capitol Theatre to the street. We will be seeking additional grant funds, as well as individual community support to offset the cost of this necessary, but costly, improvement, which in total exceeds $120,000.

If you would like to contribute to this project, you can call the box office at 717-263-0202 option 1 to make a donation, or send a check to us at 159 S Main St, Chambersburg, PA 17201 with "Waterline Project" designated on the check. πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

Just a reminder in case you've forgotten or are a newbie to our 21+ Backlot Blast this year... we encourage you to bring a lawn/foldable chair! Like the ones displayed in this picture from last year's event! 😊😌

We want everyone to be comfortable for this event! That way, you don't have to sit on the ground or stand for the whole thing. πŸ‘

And while chairs like these are permitted, here's a reminder of what's NOT permitted:
- No coolers
- No outside food/drinks
- No pets; service animals ONLY
- No strollers/wagons (which, given it's a 21+ only event, should be obvious as they're typically for young children, but you'd be surprised)

We're less than a month away now! Who else is excited?! πŸ˜„ Grab tickets to see The Reagan Years in our back parking lot on July 11th: https://ci.ovationtix.com/36040/production/1269779?performanceId=11785547

Thanks to our Diamond Sponsor, A&K Settlements, for making this event possible! 😊❀️

06/11/2026

As we navigate this slower part of our year until new season tickets go on sale, we thought we'd occasionally share local happenings and news to keep things more active on here! 😊

We'll start with sharing one of our season sponsor's, Franklin County 11/30 Visitors Center, quilt exhibit that you can check out until the end of July! It celebrates America250PA! 😍 See post below for more info.

So many rentals happening this summer it's hard to keep up! We can't believe how quickly we're approaching the next two!

We still have one concessions volunteer spot open for Franklin County 11/30 Visitors Center's A Ca****la & Unplugged event taking place in our main theatre! 🍿πŸ₯€πŸ« If anyone was interested in helping out the evening of June 19th, sign up here: https://signup.com/go/UVktQbA

Chambersburg Community Theatre is taking over the last weekend of June with their production of "Fiddler on the Roof," and we're still seeking a few concessions volunteers, as well as a bartender for the Saturday night show. 🍿πŸ₯€πŸ»πŸ· Show runs June 25-28 (don't mention the 25th on the graphic since that one is *hopefully* covered). Still many openings the 26th-28th though! Sign up here if you're able to help out: https://signup.com/go/SMJQwOC

We appreciate your willingness to volunteer! Thank you! 😊

We have quite a packed December! In fact, scheduling worked out where our next event of the upcoming 2026-2027 season is actually the day right after our Polar Express movie event! 😱

Wilson Fairchild is making a grand return to the Capitol Theatre for their "A Family Christmas" show on Sunday, December 6 at 3pm! πŸŽ„πŸŽ…

Wilson Fairchild is a country music duo with Wil and Langdon Reid, sons of the legendary and Country Music Hall of Famers Harold and Don Reid of The Statler Brothers. Wil and Langdon, referred to as β€œthe Reid boys,” have been writing, performing, and playing music together their whole lives.

For this show, you can expect some of their original tunes, some Statler Brothers’ classics, as well as some of the most iconic Christmas songs to get everybody in the holiday spirit! β€οΈπŸ’šβ˜ΊοΈ Their original hits are a mix of country, bluegrass, and gospel. If you’re looking for a fun afternoon with friends or family listening to good music and having a good time, this event should be on the agenda. One thing’s for sure: these guys know how to entertain! 🀩

TICKETS GO ON SALE TO THE PUBLIC AUGUST 17!! If you donate $100 or more by July 1, though, you can start purchasing tickets in our donor pre-sale kicking off August 3! Head here for more info on how to donate: https://www.thecapitoltheatre.org/giving/bridging-the-gap/
