Alright so I already had typed this, taking a while to do so, and facebook went and erased it? So here it goes again. Here’s the deal. I am an 19 year old cosplayer who lives in Cedar City, Utah. I am used to several cosplay gatherings a year, which don’t really function too well because there’s usually no selected leader and no events really planned. It’s hard for people to get involved in these
kind of things. Thus, there are three annual anime conventions I am aware of: Anime Banzai, Anime Oasis, and Anime Salt Lake. Two never seems to be quite enough in a year. Banzai is starting to get too crowded and ASL is getting overpriced, and I used to live right next to where they usually host ASL. So the purpose of this is to create a new cosplaying convention in Utah, away from the expenses, pollution, and overpopulation. The more people that are for this, the more likely it will be to happen. The convention will be hosted in Festival City (Cedar City, Utah), where I conveniently am going to college and living. This will be a three day (possibly four day) convention with as many panels as we can get people to run and fit into space we get. If people support this, we will start looking into dates and places to host FCCC. The deal is that in Cedar City, it’s quieter, easy to get around, it’s beautiful, and it’s a lot cheaper to rent out a hotel for a couple of nights. You can get a room with two beds for two nights for $70 as opposed to the $100 a night usually spent in the Salt Lake Locations. Due to the location and lack of things to do, besides the convention and visiting the beautiful Cedar City, the admission price will be super cheap depending on if it will pay for wherever we would have FCCC. All cosplay will be welcome here. Rules for safety will be made. This is meant to be a friendly con that people can go to without being criticized harshly and so people can meet other cosplayers and have fun. One of my major things will be introducing HOMESTUCK. I want to give it the good name it deserves and introduce the good side of the fandom, not the bad fandom everyone else sees. You do not have to participate in any Homestuck related thing if you wish to avoid them. I also made this a COSPLAY convention, so people wouldn’t feel it was restricted to ANIME. There WILL be panels for Anime, Japanese culture, and everything else like a normal anime convention, but due to the fact that AMAZING costumes come from non-anime sources like books, comics, web comics (*ahem* HOMESTUCK *ahem*). I will accept people for free that host panels, help organize the event, or watch over the event (such as making sure people are staying in line, respecting panels, not engaging in illegal activities..) so if you’re interested, PLEASE let me know. This convention will also give a different crowd of people a try at Japanese culture, anime, and cosplay. Conventions are fun and they’re really a fantastic experience that everyone should be able to participate in, so I want this to be thought of a sort of Anime Banzai/ComicCon hosted in Southern Utah. Again, the more people that like this and get into it, the more likely it will happen and the more we can do. It also lets you show off more cosplay that you have made and meet people across the state and maybe drawn in from other states! My goals for this convention are to get a section set up for vendors, a section for any kind of artists to show off and sell their stuff, many many panels, and at least two dances (one formal, one rave). Guests would be a bonus, but the event may be too small for a while. So please like and spread the page so we can get this show on the road! Any questions? Post them here.
