We will be sending out a final newsletter next week with the addresses and times and any other final details. Please watch for that! And as always let me know if you have questions. PLEASE remember to bring your own picnic lunch for the first event. We will not provide one. This is a relaxed and fun event to get to know everyone and mix and mingle. Feel free to make giant picnic groupings!

Last year I cut down a man’s vest and re-sized it for my son. It turned out so great and he looked fabulous with his fob and riding boots. Too bad he grew out of everything recently and I had to start over! I hope is selling more fobs at the festival because we both want to wear the beautiful one we got last year!

We are just four weeks away! Here is a packing list to help you finalize details. We will provide food and drinks at afternoon tea and the ball. You are in charge of your own picnic lunch and set up. We will not be providing food at that event. And don’t forget your masquerade mask! Please message me with questions!

Remember- the picnic is a bring your own basket event. We will not be providing food for everyone. Please bring your own blanket, cushions, basket and food and drinks. You can be elaborate or simple. Think finger foods, fruits and veggies, lemonade etc. People have brought outrageous picnic set ups or a simple basket lunch. Feel free to be as creative as you’d like with your own Regency picnic! 🧺

This year we will be opening the market to the public! If you’d like a little taste of the festival without committing to the whole thing, feel free to come and shop. There is no admission and you can dress up if you’d like. We will have an assortment of items such as art, ornaments, hats, accessories, jewelry and custom fragrances, to name a few. We’d love to see you there! It will be held next to the Adam’s Theatre on SUU campus on Saturday, June 12th from 11-12:30 am.

For one of our crafts this year, we will be making flower/ribbon clips to embellish bonnets or even masquerade masks. Attaching them to clips lets you change the look easily. In Regency times, women would frequently rework their hats to make them last and to wear with other outfits. We will have an assortment of ribbons and flowers as well as the clips and other materials but feel free to bring your own if you have specific items you’d like to use.

We are 8 weeks away from our festival! Ticket sales are coming along nicely. Don’t forget to purchase before May 11th as prices will go up after that. We need to start getting final head counts for our caterers and venues! And I need to buckle down on sewing…

We had a lovely time at Emma the Musical. It was fun to meet up with old and new friends and to watch the show in period clothes. It was a marvelous evening and a fantastic performance!

A reminder for everyone attending Emma The Musical with us this Saturday-evening wear to a musical performance would have been formal with long gloves and tiaras or turbans for the ladies (I’m going to refrain from feathers so I won’t block anyone’s view 🤣). You can also wear your fancy jewelry and bring shawls or a cloak if you have one!

For everyone else, how are your ball outfits coming along? I’m still trying to pin down what pattern I’d like to use if I decide to make one. If you have ball gown patterns you especially love, let me know!

Old Glory Historical Dance will be joining us this year at our ball and ball classes to both teach and lead the dances. We are so excited to have them!

A little background on their group: The first ball Brooke and Hollie hosted was the 2021 Dickens ball. For next 5 years the Lundells and Shaws have worked together to build what is now Old Glory Historical Dance.
OGHD focuses on 18th Century English County Dance with a few contra and reels thrown in for good measure. OGHD hosts four balls a year, the Regency Romance Ball, the Inaugural Ball (commemorating the first inaugural ball for George Washington), the CannonBall (pirate ball), and the best way to start the Christmas season, the Dickens Ball.
Old Glory has many opportunities to share their passion with other people and groups hosting their own balls and is very excited to be working with the Cedar City Jane Austen Regency Festival.
